Mitsubishi to bring Lancer Evolution to U.S.
Mitsubishi's Lancer Evolution, an all-wheel-drive, high-performance subcompact sedan that has received acclaim in international rally events, will go on sale in the United States next year.
"It will be the flagship for the Mitsubishi brand overall," Pierre Gagnon, president of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America Inc., said Friday, Jan. 4., at the Los Angeles auto show. "It will allow our customers to emulate rally drivers at an affordable price."
Sales begin in January 2003.
The sedan, known by enthusiasts as the "Evo," is powered by a 252-hp 2.0-liter, turbocharged inline four. Recaro seats and Brembo disc brakes are standard.
Gagnon said the car will be priced below $30,000.

this is really good news. i hope they will have more standard EVOs for way less then 30k ya kno standard brembos and recaros r sweet i hope they have optional AYC and ACD for ppl that have money to spend :>)
The fact that they are using quotes from JANUARY 2002, all I trust in that article is the release date of January 2003 because that is what we know for sure. I think they are guesstimating the horsepower, and no one knows what the options are.
If it's going to be 252HP with no AYC or ACD option, then I will be second-thinking this car.

I'm currently deciding between the EVO, the Sti, and a G35 coupe. If the EVO only has 252 hp that will make my decision much easier. Personally I like the EVO's looks over the STi although the trunk is rather ugly. However I don't like it so much more that I'm willing to sacrifice 20 hp.
Can anyone tell me why they would get an EVO over the Subbie? Does any one know which is to be released first? Finally, can anyone tell me about other EVO sites to visit?
Thanks!

The chassis is more rigid, the AWD system better, the body stiffer. All these things make the Evo able to reach higher cornering speeds.
The Evo is also technologically more advanced than a subbie from the engine viewpoint: it's got a FMIC, a better responding turbo, better engine bay cooling (have you seen a 7?
) and a much higher tuning potential (look at what can be done to an Evo and look what can be done to a Subaru, ie JUN etc. in Japan).Oh, and Subaru brakes are crap. Even the STI ones where it says Brembo on them.

Try www.myevo.com or www.lancer-evo.net or www.evoblast.com
So what is the last Evolution to have ran a 10.19 in the quarter? The Rigoli Brothers in Australia make low 10 second monsters on a daily basis. How about the 309 kph JUN WRX?

And I meant 309Kph, not MPH.
