Getting a daily is the best mod you can do for you car.

Is an evo capable of DD? Of course, no question. But it's so much easier to tinker, modify and maintain the car if you can afford to not drive it to work everyday. You always have the option of driving it to work on a nice day if you want.

Sell the truck and get a beater if you cant afford to keep the evo and the truck.

I DD my X as long as there's no salt on the road. 125-130 mile round trip 5-6 days a week. 153,000 miles on the clock, pump gas FP Black car.

Does everything from commuting, getting groceries, dropping kid off at school, going camping, long road trips, drag strip, streets of Mexico, hauling car parts etc. As long as there's no salt on the ground, everything is fair game. Living in southern Ontario and seeing/owning rotten POS cars, salt is where I draw the line.

I'm doing the same thing. I figure OEM parts won't be around forever. Much of my 2003 car is new.

Maybe I get the record for DD in an Evo? Been doing it in an Evo 8 since 2003, over 250,000 miles. 65 miles a day. And I'm well over 50 years old. I can certainly afford just about any car for DD, but for me its all in what you like in you motor car and I like AWD, a manual trans and being on rails

You sir take the cake. I thought my 150k+ was good on the X but you definitely blow my mileage out of the water! lol you and I have the same outlook on these cars. I'm all about enjoying it daily.

My car has been somewhat my daily since I bought it in 06. I saved a lot of mileage while I was in florida by using my bikes a lot, but now that I'm in colorado it's adding up pretty quick (still only 120K). i plan on never getting rid of this car and for it to continue to be my main vehicle. a daily makes sense in some ways, but for me i can't stand when i'm driving our van and want to pass someone or even just mess around. it would drive me nuts driving something else around on my commute. also in winter, not only does it handle anything i throw at it, but since i've had it for so long i know everything about it and trust that it will always get me where i need to go. on really bad blizzard type days, i stay off the main roads to avoid all of the morons on the road and take the roads that don't get plowed and that noone else drives on. it hasn't failed me yet. i trust myself and the car more than anyone else on the road...lol

Add me to the crazed EVO commuter car club - 56 miles every work day, currently at 134k! my car has been > 500 awhp since it had about 12k on the clock. Currently at 605 on 92 and 734 on e85.
