Alarms are all about the install. Viper has a single normally closed disable. Unplug the brain or cut power and the car is yours. Honda's were especially vulnerable and a popular target years ago. You could bring your own ignition, remove the fuse panel access cover and plug in your own ignition to start the car. Since the alarms were always wired in at the ignition harness near the column it was disabled as soon as you unplugged the original ignition. Extra kill switches on the fuel, spark, clutch was the best security. I installed some kill switches that required you to provide ground current with your body at an inconspicuous location to be able to start the car. That way even if a thief had the keys they couldn't start the car.
We're talking about Evo's, nothing should be the generic version IMHO

Put a large bike chain through a lump of pipe and chain it to a spoke in one of the mags, at least they will need to cut it or make a hell of noise if they drive away with it

My best defense from theft right now is my cold idle and IAC valve. Good luck driving that **** you loser.

Best part is if you stall it then it doesn't fire back up for a while.

My car came with a kill switch of sorts, it requires a small security puck and is installed in an out-of-sight place in the car.

I definitely forgot about it the first few weeks of owning the car, nearly freaked out and called the PO yelling at him for selling me a car that wouldn't start.

Felt like a real dumb dumb.

What about the COBB Accessport V3 and the Anti-Theft Mode that it can be set to? Anyone use that?

you would need to dig out the rim locking nuts inserted where you cant hit them with a hammer and you wont be cutting high tensile square section chain, it slips out of the jaws, you'll need to grind it which make a lot of noise.

lug nuts that require a key to remove are trivially easy to defeat. It would be a good first obstacle in a battery of security measures, but as a sole prevention method its pretty weak.

I use to have those security lug nuts, then i lost the key and removed them myself. After that i didn't bother with purchasing locking nuts again. They aren't going to stop any one but the most novice of thieves and they will probably create a problem for you.

I don't feel like Evos are stolen very often at all. However I had a Subaru WRX stolen and know many others that have as well. They are much more common so much bigger market to sell parts you steal. Or a lot of times they just steal the car and take the parts for their own car or buddy's car. Miss my bugeye wrx but it ultimately led to me getting an Evo at least.

Mine is bone sock and I just have the factory alarm. I am planning on wiring a kill switch once I start modding it.

I used to say this until my wheels got stolen by complete novices. And by complete novices I mean they managed to have the car slip while it was jacked up, which pinned their jack and set off the alarm. They got away with 2 wheels and left me with 3 lug nuts on the remaining 2 wheels. Locking lug nuts would have stopped those fools so I've done it every since then.
