Disconnect clutch interlock switch?

I have a 2003 Evo I bought new. Currently has 70,000 miles on the odo. I've recently been having some starter issues I think may be caused by the clutch interlock switch. The switch is normally closed (peddle up) and open when the peddle is down. So disconnecting the switch SHOULD tell the engine system the same thing that depressing the peddle does (opens the contacts). I'd like to disconnect the switch as a test, anyone see a problem with this? The clutch has 2 switches, this interlock which engages when the peddle is DOWN, and the clutch position switch, which engages when the peddle is UP. The position switch would remain active. I get that I'd have to be careful to not crank the engine with the peddle up.

TIA

Thanks, I disconnected the switch & the car starts & runs fine. Of course, problems can be intermittent, so we'll see what happens.

i always disconnect these. The pressure plate puts side load on the thrust washers at the worst time, when there's no oil circulating. It's unnecessary. Just dont be dumb.
