2 Step Flames?

Ricer question but when I 2 step my ‘05 MR it shoots fuel out the back but no flames. Is there a reason for this?

I’ve only had the car for like half a year it’s been tuned with the previous owner. Don’t know much about the tune. AEM intake and catback exhaust with test pipe.

Well, you should have the tune checked out & determine its level of fitness, so to speak.

Shooting flames as in "Anti Lag" looks & sounds cool, but is super hard on the turbo, exhaust mani & will likely tear up a CAT over time

Not sure if youre car has Anti Lag tuned in or if youre just referring to the 5500 stock 2-step.

It’s the stock 2 step. I don’t really use the 2 step but just wondering why the fuel doesn’t ignite and just shoots out the back when I do.

If its the stock 2-step, thats why there are no flames. You need an Anti-Lag tune to produce what the English call "Pops & Bangs"

If you want the "flames" take a look at the BEE*R rev limiter...

As I understnd it, to shoot out flames, you need to retard ignition by more than -10° (depends on how long it takes for your exhaust to exit tailpipe) and any cat will clog up flows to put out flame. You need flame to keep burning until it exits tailpipe where fresh oxygen allows rich mixture to burn up extra fuel. If flame goes out before exiting tailpipe, no pop (what you are experiencing).

Oh crap, you're right. 2 step cuts fuel. Thanks for pointing that out.
