Hello my evo brothern,

I will be going to check out a apex 8 today at a local mechanic shop that i've seen outside for a couple weeks now.

The shop is helping the owner sell it but the shop said the owner brought it their for a couple tweaks.

The shop told me two faults the car has. The car stalls occasional at stop lights, and when the car is at idle. This is the only major issue i heard. Second issue is squeaky breaks, which to me is probably just the usual loud brembos had this problem myself.

Just looking for some insight to what this stalling issue could be? EGR, IAC, FUEL PUMP, MAF??

TLDR: Looking at evo 8, has some issues with stalling, and squeaky beraks.

The stalling could be a no. of issues. Is there active CEL? And if so what is the code?

Running a log to see whats going on would be my suggestion

Regarding the brakes, what pads are you using. Are you using the angled rear shims? I found that my rears really squeaked w/out the angled rear shims

Just my .02 thoughts

 

if you could get a compression and leakdown... then you would have a good idea of the condition of the engine.
if those come out ok.. then the stalling is probably tune... or something small.
