Need help on purchase

Hey guys, wanted to get your input on this purchase. I'm about to buy a 2003 Evo 8 with only 57k miles for $19,500. Is that a good deal or priced too high? Seller has already negotiated to his lowest price and will not budge. With that being said, the car has a clean and clear title, no accidents, and does have minor bolt ons like exhaust, radiator, BOV, intake, piping, etc and has been tune. However, with the mileage being 57k, the timing belt, waterpump and clutch are all original. It does drive good with no issues and no gear grinding apparently and is mechanically sound. What do you guys think? Any input would be appreciated. Again, theres no way to negotiate down on the price so it's either I purchase or pass it up.

Thanks

Wow, sounds like a decent deal for sure. The mileage is what is driving up the price a bit. You will be needing a 60K service at some point

Some guys will post up the FS link but understand if you want to keep it under wraps

Check for rust! A compression check & boost leak test can always be done?

Thanks for your input. The ad is from an app offer up, didnt really think about putting it up but maybe it will paint a better picture. As far as the 60k service, that is a reason I'm worried. Its closer to 58k miles so theoretically I would only drove it for 2k miles before I would have to get the timing belt and watepump changed. Maybe I could ride out the clutch for longer time depending on how I drive but I dont want to risk snapping the timing belt and having the engine totally destroyed. With that being said the 19.5k price is what I'm concerned with too. The car has no rust, is very clean inside and out along with a healthy engine. Just wanted to know if you guys think it's a good price for a 2003 with almost 60k miles.

About a year ago I bought my 06 with 54k miles on it for considerably more then what you got the guy down to. If it's the exact car you want, its 100% worth it. I had a long list of requirements and the car I found met them all. Took months of searching and was the first to pop up. So I had to get it regardless if the price was a bit high. Since then, i have yet to find another one pop up that matched what i wanted so i am glad i snatched it up when i did. Hope that's helps your decision!

Yea, I've been looking for this particular color and in condition with the amount of miles as well. I don't mind paying the 19.5k for it, just didnt knowing it was too much or reasonably priced.
Thanks!

With major services and fluid changes, I'd rather do it myself than to let someone tell me its been done. If he had it done, he'd tack on most of the cost into his asking price anyway.

Get a PPI, flag out what needs replacement and try to haggle a little but if he's already given his best offer, the ball is in your court.

The timing belt job is every 60k miles or every 5 years. Which ever comes first. So it's about 11 years over due.

If the car is clean it counts like a good deal. I would replace the timing belt/balance shaft belt IMMEDIATELY upon taking possession though.

Before taking possession get the car inspected by a good mechanic. If the owner declines, run away.
