03 evo 8 running rich.
So....the other day I was doing some pulls im firsr and second. then out of the blue heard horrible pops at about 7k. My engine revs to 8500k. No flashing service engine light to reflect knock. My assumption was spark blow out. the engine light came on. Started running super rich. 9.5 rich. Drove it home about 20 minutes and ran fine enough driving it nice. The next day i got the light checked. Gave a lean code. Went to jump my crx and it wouldnt do it. Went do drive it. It died. Come to find the alternator plug came out somehow. Have no idea how. Plugged it in charged the battery overnight. Starts up. Run and holds a charge. While driving runs rich still. When easily accelerating it gets richer like 13 tops. Let off and goes back to 9.5. At idle it floods out and dies. Have new bp8es to put in here once im off work. But besides that ive no idea where else to suspect besdies the coils possibly or the front 02 sensor went bad while under lean conditions and or maybe fouled out while the ecu compensated for the lean state? Ive looked through other threads and not come up with too much of a solution. Idk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Was it fine before and suddenly started having these issues? My first guess would be a tuning issue, but if it was running fine before and not running so rich I'd check what voltage your o2 sensor is putting out for starters. Pull your plugs and compare them, is one cylinder clearly different than the others?
The alternator plug is a bit of a pain to clip in, and it'll feel like it's completely clipped and then fall out later. Gotta give it a good push and make sure it's completely in there.

Have you disconnected the battery during all this? It might have some really messed up trims learned that just need to be cleared out. If not I would do that, throw in new plugs and take it for a drive and see how that goes. If the problem remains continue troubleshooting.
Yes the car ran fine before this happened. Unplugged battery with o2 disconnected. All new plugs gapped at .24. Found some open insulation,on wired in the o2, cran and coil plug area. Taped them. Ran the car. Still running rich. Parked it. Let it idle while i wiggled wires in the same area i taped up to get a response of any kind from the car. For a moment i got normal afr readings. Was getting excited. So I started wiggling again to see wut wire it was and in the process my buddy in the passenger seat said he heard a click and then the car died. Now it cranks no start. Checked every fuse. All good. Haven't checked relays yet. Dont smell fuel now either. Is there a fuel cutoff circuit breaker I may have tripped somewhere? Either who the car is dead in the water and i HAVE to have a car so it back to the crx for now. I'll update more when I get the chance.
