I've been using the areas circled in red for jack stands for years based on recommendations from this forum.

i think using those spots in red are fine as long as you use a decent length piece of wood to spread the load.

Put the jack stands under the huge thick metal control arms that almost mate to curved jack stand arms and then jack it up via the middle subframe. If you look under the car it is painfully obvious where you should be jacking the car up. I don't know why they're huge topics on this lol. I was convinced that it was a huge feat by all the topics and diagrams but it's easier to jack up then a Jeep and most vehicles actually.

It doesn't hurt to use cardboard or a piece of rubber to prevent slipping and scratching but other then that just use the giant hunks of metal to lift the car not the body work and not plastic panels lol.

See in the middle of that huge hunk of metal how there is two gold nuts? Well there are two other nuts and it marks the middle of the car. Your round jack end with notches fits there perfectly.

Then just put the stands under the round circular part of the control arm where it connects to the frame.

I couldn't find a damn solid answer and used the places circled in red in the diagram above as well. I was using a hydraulic lift with 2 posts (4 arms) and each pad went under each red circled spot. It seems sketchy, but it worked for me to lift the car, replace my exhaust and fluids. It did get a little sketchy because with the car being balanced by 4 points that are close to the middle of the car, rather than the ends, any time I put a lot of force into anything the car would rock up and down, nose up-tail down and vice versa...

I wish there were less sketchy places to lift the car from, but nothing further out from those points is reinforced enough to lift the car from. Just be careful about where you're putting force into the car so that the weight doesn't shift and make the car rock too hard...

If you're using a lift you should be lifting by the pinch welds. absolutely no reason not to. lifting with a 2-post rack and not using the pinch welds (the black circles on the sides) is wrong. doesn't matter where else you lift by, it's incorrect. it may work, but still incorrect. and unsafe, as you saw with the balance.
