It's been a good run

Well, after almost 14 years of ownership, without an accident or door ding, my 2005 Mitsubishi evolution was hit by the neighbors while parked. I joined this forum almost immediately after buying it in early 2006. This has been a great resource and a great place for opinions and knowledge. I planned to have this car until I died, but now the insurance company may total it. Its actually not that bad, and i drove it to the body shop. The driver fender has a hole and is crushed almost to the strut tower. The door is peeled back a little, but has no problems opening and closing. The mirror was ripped off. Still, not too bad. But the adjuster was like " well, it is a 2005 Mitsubishi ". Lol. I will get word monday or tuesday. Wish me luck. Thanks evo M.

Wow insurance will total anything that gets damaged nowadays. This would be a simple repair.

I know. I'll be getting a call soon, but her tone did not sound good. Hell, if the price is right, I'll just buy it back and fix it at my leisure. What sucks is I just spent a week on my back replacing the rear main, clutch and oil pan reseal.

Ahhh! Not cool. My evo has been hit 3 times while parked. A small ding on the trunk, scratch on the front bumper (just some paint transfer), and a branch fell on my hood. I park it in my back yard now when i dont plan to drive it. I wish i had a garage.

No door dings, but man the sun took it's toll on the lovely Mitsu paint.

Hope you get it sorted, but this wouldn't be the first Evo I've seen that got totaled over relatively minor damage.

Doesn’t look bad but the problem is insurance is not gonna want to shell out brand new door and fender money plus mirror. Thank god the headlight didn’t get damaged because those alone can get your car totaled.

If they total it, see if you can buy it back and fix it. This run doesn't have to be over yet. Also your neighbors are real jerks.

Good news, they are fixing it, although begrudgingly. Lol. Looks like about 4- 5000 in damage according to the estimate. It's still going through the estimate phase so it could still be higher. That estimate was with a used mirror and door repair, not replace. I was pissed at that. Will post pics when done.

yeah, haha. The Mitsubishi clear coat has been in decline for about 9 years now. Just no cash to get it fixed. I put the money in the motor, and maintenance. Looks like ****, but runs like the day I bought her.

That damage above the mirror is quite high. What the heck do they drive? A lifted truck? I wouldn't settle for anything less than OEM parts. Definitely make them pay out! You said your neighbors hit you, but you haven't mentioned if this is through your insurance or theirs? Plus, if they were to total this, make sure you let them know of the recent maintenance you did because that can also be factored into the amount for the settlement.

yeah, they drove a newer suburban. It their insurance paying. I'm fighting for how much they gotta pay now. I'm going to get an update friday, but the body shop knows my position. I want it how it was before the accident. No bondo or filler and all oem parts.

What insurance company is it going through? I'm an estimator at a body shop & might be able to give you some insight.

they have a gecko as a mascot. Lol. I know they are notoriously cheap, especially when they are at fault. They are trying to lowball the paint repair as the clearcoat was previously damaged. I'm getting full details in the morning and will update you guys.
