Who or what route should I go with for a built motor

So I will be picking up an evo soon. Had a built one in the past so I'm not new to evos. Anyways I want to get a low mile evo 9. Its between a buying a built one already or just getting a shell and building a motor for it or dropping one in. Everyday some company comes out with new stuff so idk which way to go. The evo will see fre track days but it will be more of a street car. It for sure will have a built 5 speed in it. Anyways should I get a stock low mile evo and building the motor in it or replacing it with a built motor from let's say boostin or any of the high end performance shops, get a low mile rolling shell and dropping in a built motor from one of the shops or building my own? I want the car to have everything built for the motor with either a 6466 or 6766 and be built for 1000hp. I want at least a 9.5 second car. Anything faster will be fine. I know this wont happen overnight but I just want to do everything right with time and see what my options are for this year as like I said new parts come out every so often. I was told to do a 8 block with a 9 head but then again I am not sure. I'm fine with a 2.0, 2.1 or 2.2 motor. This car will see track time maybe a local track maybe 3 times a year and shootout. I just want a reliable car even though it's an evo lol and I'm looking for over 800hp. Any help would be appreciated. I am also looking on different websites for help, prices and what's out there to get my options. Just figured I'd also look for help here. Never wrong to do so. Better to be safe then sorry. If you can post prices, links and anything else that might help that would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

SHELL SHELL SHELL SHELL SHELL
As for engine? I duuno, just a meatball obsessed with resurrecting Evos over here, so do whatever.
Make a poll! Make a bunch, shell vs car, stock vs built engine, top end vs quick spool turbo!

i wouldnt buy a shell unless you just got a ton of money and want to buy a bunch of new stuff.
if you do get a shell (ive done it), STM can help with finding stuff you dont have, or dont know you have.

depending on your budget... i would buy a complete car,
motor - boostin, english, curt brown
trans/xfercase - jacks, shep, tre

then just pick up all the other parts from whoever has sales....

Ok let's get things right. You want a high horsepower evo which can make 9.5 at the quarter mile. Both turbos that you mentioned will get you there (6466, 6766) but i think none of them will be able to extract 1000hp. I think your best option is a 6870 with a t4 divided housing. As, for the block, I think a 2.0 or even a 2.2 build is suitable for your goals. As you do not care about boosting early, an evo 8 block and head without mivec will be fine also. If I was in your place i would do a 2.0Lr or a 4g64 2.2LR destroker, s3 cams with 1mm (intake only maybe) oversize valves, a good intake manifold (MAGNUS, JMF, AMS etc) and a 6870 T4 turbo to take advantage the higher rpms. I think a 2.2 build with a 4.31 final drive would be also a very good option. Also, a straight cut gearbox need to be considered for that purpose

A shell would cost a fortune to get you to your goal (depending on how complete it is I suppose). Follow what Hutch says and you'll be good to go.

If you're replacing everything, what difference does mileage make? You would be paying a premium for a car you're gonna tear apart, anyway.

English for the motor build.

By "track time", I assume you mean drag strip, seeing how the build you describe would be a nightmare on a road course.

800hp and reliable. Hahahaha

Straight cut gears are a horrible idea for a car that is street driven. Driving in an everyday application is extremely hard on them. Nothing wrong with a well built trans from TRE. They will handle that power level with no issues and cost the fraction of a cost of a dogbox. Also I would build a 2.1lr over the 2.0lr. Rod stroke ratio is a lot better on the 2.1lr and it can out rev a 2.0lr. If you have a 4g63 block just build a 2.0. It works and its proven.

Yea, i know that a straight cut gear would be horrible on the street. But he mentioned that he needs a 1000hp build and i am not sure if a 5speed can handle that much power. Of course I know that it depends from the torque and the usage, but if he does not intend to daily drive it, a dogbox would be more appropriate. Hopefully with a 2.0 which does not make the torque of a 2.2 or a 2.4 would get away with a built 5speed from TRE,Sheptrans,DBtrans etc

We have a 2.0 Aluminum rod 6870 car on a 150 shot of nitrous that makes over 1000hp on a fully built tre trans that has gone 3 years now with zero issue. If he wants something that going to be streetable primarily and occasionally taken to the track as mention then he would have no issues at all. Like you said the key is torque management.
