Turbo suggestion for my engine..

Hey guys

Right now im currently building a 2.2 Mivec 4g63
As following
  • Kelford Valve Springs/Ti Retainers
  • GSC R2 camshafts
  • GSC 35+1mm Intake Valves
  • GSC 31.5+1mm Exhaust Valves
  • GSC Intake/Exhaust Valve Guides
  • GSC Valve Seals
  • GSC Balance shaft delete
  • 1.3mm Nitto Gasket
  • Manley 94mm crank
  • Nitto I Beams w/625+
  • Wiseco AP HD Forged Pistons 8:8:1
  • ACL Thrust Washer
  • ACL Race Rod Bearings
  • ACL Rain Main Bearings
  • ARP Main studs
  • ARP 625+ Head stuf
  • Fluidampr Balanced damper
E85 is planned for the near future.
100% dedicated to go forward facing manifold
The main goal of the car is for it to be a 60% street car, 40% drag/track car.

So obviously I dont want a complete laggy setup as I still want to have fun on the street but at the same time I do want something that will give me good power.
However with all of this, I still have no idea what turbo route to take, iv been told by heaps of friends that a t4 divided 6466, 1.0a/r is the way to go, others say gtx3584rs

Everything has been set in stone other then the turbo and I thought id ask for more suggesstions before forking out any money

By track do you just mean drag racing at the track?

If so, then yes, I'd do a twin scroll Precision 6466

Should run the 1.15 housing on the 6466. Smaller doesn't really spool faster on that turbo.

What are your power goals? The 6466 may be a bit laggy for circuit use and leave you wanting something more responsive.

1.15 housing, noted. Just curious, any idea what rev range I could possibily start spooling at?
Down here, we measure our power figures by kW which im after around 500kW at the wheels or so, if I do a straight conversion to whp, this leaves me at around the 670whp mark

Good choice on the engine combination. I would recommend an ER oil pump gear to slow the oil pump down. An ATI dampner is also a good idea.
I think you will have some cooling issues with a forward facing on a circuit car. Most people want more cooling on the road course, not less. Hate to see you spend all that time and not be able to run it.
If I were you I would think about a Garrett turbo (water and oil cooled) The Gen 1 GTX 3582R will spool up well and make over 700whp all in. A GTX3584R or Gen 2 GTX3582R is also a great turbo.

These are some excellent results with a Mivec 2.2 Gen 1 GTX3582R at 30psi on a well sorted time attack car. A wide power band makes for a fun and fast car. Looks like they brought the boost in easy . For drag racing you could hit it with 40psi +

You'd be full in boost by about 4750 if you're running the stock intake manifold. Probably around 5000 with a large plenum aftermarket manifold.

For only 670whp you can run a smaller, more responsive turbo. An EFR 8374, twin scroll gen2 gtx3582r. The new Garrett G35-900 even looks promising. The G30-770 would likely be great, but it may not quite hit 670whp.

Ill look into the ER oil pump gear. Any idea what rpm I start spooling/ when I hit full boost by on the 3582r/3584r. The ecu I run is a link g4+

You say this in a way where the 6466 is abit overkill for 670whp.

Is that a forged or a billet crank? Cause if its forged I wouldn't trust that crank above 600hp with those steel rods. Around 650 on the forge crank and you're gonna risk cracking an oil journal.

6466 is way overkill for a sub 700 goal. It'll make 800+ on your setup.

Going off the dyno graph in the link I posted, it should be coming up well by 4300 and really making some power by 4800-5000 on the GTX3582R. The 3584r should be close to that also.

Stop what? Telling him stuff that the I was told from a Manley rep? Stuff that I've not only seen multiple times but have personally had happened to my own motor? You're opinion isn't the golden rule of the evo world. So get over yourself.

Seeing as how you think the weight of your clutch/flywheel assembly somehow wore out starters, I'm going to assume everything you say is wrong.
