Always wanted to buy Evo... but now Im not so sure

Hey guys , I know that probably to some of you this question will seem stupid , but...
I have always wanted an Evo 9 and I was decided which one and where to buy , but since the new Toyota GR Yaris , on which Tommi Mäkinen was working with Toyota , is coming out soon , I am not so sure about the Evo 9. The Evo 9 is a great car and the one particular that I want is stock with no modifications and in a great shape ! I also think that it will hold its price when some day I will try to sell it , and I also guess thats not the thing with Toyota GR Yaris or other cars that are similiar. Here comes my dillema... They both cost the same , Toyota will be brand new but will probably drop in the value. The Evo has about 120000km and wont probably drop in the value. And they both seem on the same power level. I would love to get into slight car modifications in the future like exhaust , air intakes etc and in that category I guess the Evo has the upper hand (?) I dont know how it works with new cars like the toyota if you want to tune them.
again I am sorry for my stupid question , but whats your take on the new Toyota GR Yaris when Evo is still my option ?
As you can see I am new in this car stuff and all help is appreciated !
have a nice day !

I wish we were getting the GR Yaris. Personally I don't like getting the first gen of anything so Id'e probably wait to see how they hold up in the general public's hands for a year or two. Being a Toyota i expect it to be pretty reliable though, and it will have a warranty. Toyota as a company is also in much better shape then mitsu and they make parts for their cars for like forever. You gotta figure 15 years of newer technology has got to be pretty significant as well.

If we had the GR Yaris in the USA, I would have one in my garage. Looks to be the closest to an AWD Fiesta that I always wanted. LOVED my Fiesta ST's and if they would have been AWD, I would have kept them.

Do you have any kids?? The GR Yaris looks to be 2 door and makes getting kids in and out a pain. The evo has all the equipment needed to strap in a childs seat. Something to consider.

Looks like the US is getting a GR Corolla hatch though. That will be pretty cool.

A new car is always tempting. Being the first owner, you know the entire history of the car. As much as I love my 9, the reality is that I never know the full history of the car, being the third owner. Even though every single maintenance and shop receipt was kept for me in a binder, it does not prove a job was done correctly, or if shortcuts had to be taken to get "xyz" to work properly. Worst is the fact that parts (especially OEM) are harder to find, since there weren't many of these cars made in the first place.....and when you do find the parts, there is the ridiculous "evo tax" lol.

To help make your decision you need to first figure out what your plans are for the car. While the Yaris at the time is on par with the performance to a stock Evo, there is no doubt that the years of aftermarket support of the Evo will far outweigh the Yaris. Also cost, the Evo will be cheaper to maintain and to go fast. Personally and I might be biased but the Evo looks like a far more aggressive and cool looking car. The only drawback to the Evo is that you won't be finding one that's new. You will need to do more research to ensure it's exactly what your looking for. I am still the 1st and only owner of mine and it's been an amazing experience owning it so good luck to you. One last bit of information because this is very important, but some stock parts for the Evo are getting harder to find. I don't expect it to be a drought anytime soon, and considering the Rabid fan base I'm sure another company will start making some parts that will no longer be able to be bought new, so keep that in mind. You will be going into a car fan base that's very well established and a wealth of information to match the goals you have for the car. Good luck.
