I don't see how the stock filter will prevent water from getting into the engine either. But anyway, any modifications will give Mitsubishi ammunition to use against you when you bring your car in for warranty stuff. So when modding your car, just pick mods that can easily be removed to return to stock should anything happen. Mitsu has always been like this. We just have to live with it.

I just had a WORKS P2 flash, ceramic downpipe and exhaust installed AT San Rafael Mitsubishi, in San Rafael, California. They apparently are an authorized dealer for WORKS, and they cover cars with these mods under warranty.

I heard that changing out your intercooler hoses, like Samco, can void your warranty. Now I was going to do this mod to keep my hoses from expanding, but now I a m having second thoughts.

Apparently, i'm sort of God or something at my local mitsu dealer. I walk into there with a whole buttload of mods and they didn't say one thing to me bad except "wow, you have a lot of work done, nice car". Till the day comes when something like my transfer case breaks, I have not voided anything . Still get my free oil changes and what not for 3 years.

perhaps, but it's irritating to see people continue to clog up evom with the same useless threads OVER and OVER again. if people would actually try using the search button, not only on evom, but on the web in general, there would be a lot less pointless threads.

I think it all depend on you, how do you handle yourself when you go into the dealer. I have a few mods and had an 02 problem. they said put the cat back on the car and I will fix the car for you. they can tell how you drive you car just by looking at it . do you look nervious when yyou talk to them.

I think it is all about the service manager.... If he wants to be an A-hole he will.....You just have to inform them that you will be talking to your lawyer if they hassel you.... If you put an air filter and a piston breaks then they can't void your warr... Only if they can prove with facts that the part that you put on cause the problem they have to by LAW honor your warr...
It is all under the magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.............
