@kaj What ECU updates are you talking about? Any idea when the last one was? I've only gotten notices about an airbag recall.

 

What I know: The tech I knew at Mitsu would enter into their system (not sure how) something along the lines of "any ecu updates have been performed". I didn't' ask for details, though. I was under the impression that if he didn't, I'd go to smog and have a problem.
What I'm reading on EvoM: If I'm understanding it right: some people are being denied smog because their ROMs are out of date. Some are saying a quick reflash/update from the dealership fixes it.
Personally, I don't have experience with any smog issues, but we're all kinda trying to compile stories/fact/fiction to get a handle on how this all is going. So far, it seems easiest to go back to completely stock and going from there.

thank you! It passed like nothing. Show him the diagram MinusPrevious gave me and a few diagram from the dealer. He got nothing to say and was being all nice and apologize for the last appointment for him being rude.
he asked me see if i can email him those diagrams for futures use if/when he have another evol 9 in so he know.

I don't see if you mentioned it, but did you have to go to the dealer to get the latest PCM flash that was part of a recall years back?

 

yea i mentioned it in the first post.
i did take my car to go get that ecu reprogrammed first before they even allow me to make an in person appointment at the referee.

 

I'm only aware of the evo 9 ecu tune with a recall.

 

Honestly as for the ecu recall i never got any notice about it until i take my car in for the cross-member recall and the dealer told me that i got two other recall. One for airbag and the other one is for ecu recall. I did the cross-member recall but not the air bag and ecu. Until when i need to get my car to referee a few months ago. I got my ecu and air bag done.
i always get notice for airbag recall but never for ecu.

 

thanks for posting this info. this is where i am at now. I have a question in regards to the ecu recall. I am tuned, every single nut and bolt is back to stock. Now, will the ecu reflash at the dealer correct my CVN numbers, etc??? And yes i have a tactrix cable and plan to back up my current settings. So thats my plan, although i have never used the tactrix cable and never done a back up of it LOL... But i think im at the right place for ecu research!!

 

my evol 9 is completely stock so i didnt have to do anything but just drive to the dealer to get that ecu reprogram recall done.
On the other hand my cousin evol 9 is mod&tuned. He got that random state ref too so he put everything back to stock and reflash his tuned back to stock and take his car in to get the ecu recall done at the dealer and the dealer said they will find out if he messed with his ecu but that's just a lie. After 10mins they come back told us that his ecu look good and that they find no tuned so they will do the recall...
reflash your map to stock map before you take it in or else they won't do the ecu recall if your car still tuned.

 

its a recall not a warranty repair, why should they give a f**** if it was tuned or not? These stupid games these people play are aggravating AF.

 

06evol9se--thanks i will do that then. i need the new firmware cause i can download this my self for future smogs....while my 'registration" lives in California.
i read a thread here from EVO9AWD, where he went to do both recalls, but they didnt do the ecu recall. although they said they did. he checked with evoscan and noticed no ecu update, it was not done. he fixed it himself by changing some rev limits!(me-not sure). and that the checksum numbers fell in place. i have been trying to get a hold of him thru here but he has not replied. some people go months without checking in here.. the scare tactic is lame from the dealer to. they prolly dont know how to read it.

I don't know about you but for me and my cousin. they required us to send them the proof we got from the dealer that we got the ecu reprogrammed done before they even schedule us to take our car in.
