Doug, that really sucks. Not sure about the noise though. Does whine go up and down with rpms? Is it steady all the time? xtnct, a car that uses a MAS to count air won't run very well at all when all the counted air is going out a big hole in the IC. Don't believe me, pull your upper ic pipe off the tb and see how well the car runs.

If some foreign object makes it to the compressor blades of the turbo it can start making crazy noises. Very similar to that of a jet engine.

I feel you man...I recently messed up my driver side door's frame and creates some paint cheap on the edges of the door. That black frame that holds the windshield in. I have no idea how much all that will cost me, but im pretty sure it's around 500 worth of demage. It was just stupidity and careless on my part, and it is just total bad luck. I wanted to cry so bad and felt like shooting myself in the foot.

Why dont you just get an aftermarket bumper? Gialla would look pretty cool. There are several aftermarket parts out there that looks really cool. Or better yet, just get the stock bumper and order the Varis Racing front lip. Peace....

xnct,

Nope it will not run with the hole in it. Black smoke and even soot pours out of the tail pipe and it will not go above like 55-60 mph. It took me an entire takn of gas to go like 30 miles.

Deceit,

The bottom lip is $212.05. I am not sure it will come painted Mitsubishi could not guarantee that.

Turbo442,

It is a very loud wine all the time when under any load at all. Even pushing 1 or less psi will cause the wine and it is constant. So assuming that a forein object is the cause, will it hurt the turbo? How can I check for the object?

I have given up on trying to make it to the Autocross event tomorrow. Now I just want to be able to dirve it with the stock intercooler until the new one arrives along with my new bumper.

thanks to all,
-Doug

ChrisS,

Insurance would probably cover the bumper part. I am not sure about the Buschur intercooler since it s custom. However I believe that had I had the stock intercooler it would have not even been damaged at all so not sure. The custom one is much bigger and haings down much lower. I may call State Farm just to see what my options are.

It is going to cost a minimum of $1400 just to put it back the way it was 2 days ago. That sucks when all I did was bump a parking baracade.

****! That's ridiculously expensive especially unpainted. I have a really bad ding in my bumper, a piece cracked, another piece cracked and a ton of scratches on the bottom so it might just be cheaper for me to buy a whole new bumper.

Do you happen to have the part # for the lip?

Thanks, good luck!

re:

Accidents do happen . There are drivers ed. courses in most areas , lay off the reefer , don't drink & drive ,Owning a 4x4 is also good for driving over obstructions. Forgetfulness is not always related to old age I'm just F-in with ya. Hope you fix the ride soon and boogie

Check the pipe that bolts directly to the turbo outlet. Does the Buscher kit replace that pipe? Anyway the bolts are in a really tight spot and I experienced the very same problem when one of those bolts was not properly tightened after upgrading my IC. If the bolts are tight your pipe may be damaged, but I am pretty sure that's where that noise/boost leak is comming from.

This is exactly the kind of thing that made me paranoid about that IC sitting so low, **** happens

Good luck with your repair.
