Is it possible to use a front wheel dolley to tow a non-running evo?

I might be misunderstanding what you guys are talking about, but you cannot load up the wheel bearings without the axle (or something) installed clamping it together:

right. that's why i want the splined/threaded end of the axle only in order to tighten the axle nut. hoping the rear wheels will spin fine at highway speeds when using the FWD dolley. whatchuthink? help me mcgyver this thing

I think that would work fine. I've even considering trying to just use some washers and a big bolt to clamp it together in a pinch. Thankfully I haven't had to cross that bridge yet. I have ruined a wheel bearing by not having anything in there. Learned that one the hard way.
Just to clarify the main issue you're worried about is pulling it onto a trailer with the wheels seized up?

my other car cost 4x new what an Evo cost new. I guess it's a bit more stout in some ways.

I had to move a couple Evos that were like this. On one I had to disconnect the driveshaft. Something up front was stuck but once I disconnected the driveshaft everything moved like normal. I always had the available manpower to push them onto Uhaul trailers. You can disassemble your axle as well. Once you pop out the axle you can undo the CV boot clamp and pull off the axle cup plus cv bearing. You will need spring clip pliers to remove the bearing. After that is done its just a shaft. I use those to push around shells and keep the wheel bearings functional.

@deylag Thanks! I'm definitely open to dismantling my axle if this happens. I could probably get those parts-store axles too. Anyone know if the spline is the same as the EvoX's? I could probably check which cars use our bearing
That might take some modification since the bolt patterns are different if I am not mistaken. If you want to convert an Evo to FWD I believe its easier to dissassemble the axles and use the parts. What I mean by this is you will use the front outer axle cup to secure the front wheel bearing. Then use the inner axle cup in the transfercase. Maybe you can modify the inner axle cup and fill it with lead or weld a plate to close the inner axle cup. That is merely to add some weight to keep it installed in the transfercase. It should be balanced since its rotating which is the same for the front outer axle cup.
Now the Evo is now RWD only by disconnecting the front axles.

I think the AWD 2G uses the same wheel bearing in the rear as the CT9A. So maybe the FWD 2g rear bearing will bolt up in the rear of evo. Pulling the hub is more work than just using stubs from a CV though.
I'm thinking if I'm towing then I dont need fluids in the diffs, so no need to plug the sides, yeah?
I thought if the FWD rear hub fits and available anywhere then its not a bad solution considering you dont have to deal with grease :P the hub will come off easily especially with the axle out of the way. the benefit of having 2 "axle housing" threaded sections is (1st its not too bulky to carry around) you could probably use if for front and back, depending where you need it.
I will continue the research. I just want to have a plan ya know. I can even use AAA to get my car to a shop and get them to help get my car on the rental dolley or trailer, maybe have them do the FWD conversion work (I doubt theyll get on it).
