Mustang GT to Evo IX?
Yea.. tech has come a long way in 20 years for sure. I would agree its an inferior car to many newer cars. My evo was a daily driver for many years. Its not great at 1 thing, but does so many very well. We dont get much snow where i live, so i was able to drive it year round year after year and it never broke down on me. Im very glad i bought it. There are much better cars nowadays if you had to only pick 1. As a 2nd + car, the evo is awesome still IMHO.
A 25k evo is gona have a load of problems on the horizon/be pretty high miles and you probably have to put the work/more funds in to modernize it anyway. Any half decent one is gona cost new modern car money. Even if it's a clean oem example you're looking at 50k plus.
as long as there are no rust issues, the carpets/dash/glass are all there, cone/autox damage is fine, no pulled fenders (cut lip is fine). everything else can be refreshed gradually. I wouldnt trust any nice looking evos out there to not have any aging problems, even the ones that are well taken cared of
For me it’s not necessarily about the power. AWD power is different than RWD power. I came from WRXs and STis. I just love the way evos look (always have), and their stout performance (speed and handling) have always been attractive to me. I think what I’m going to do is keep my mustang for a weekend fun car, and get an evo IX for a fun daily. Hoping to have a “reliable” ~500 AWHP one day.

Were great. Fact. They were some of the best drivers cars at the time.
Still cool. Fact. One of the coolest mid school JDM cars.
Times have moved on. Fact. Modern cars are much more capable off the showroom floor.
The fact that a thread about mk5 Supras on a Evo forum is one of the currently higher viewed threads is a good signal.
Lol that rallyspork forgot I put him on my ignore list. I can only see his asinine posts when someone quotes him.

Mr Razorlab is probably not boss-level in the Supra forums yet. Cut him some slack
I have not seen a fast Supra locally and its been out several years. I see some in chinatown meets. we got more fast hardcore Mustang guys down here

But I’m not wrong. Everything in my post is a fact.

Has it not occurred to you that people are interested in the nostalgia and analog feel of these cars? JDM muscle car if you will. Its not always about owning the newest and best and most expensive.
Furthermore the supra by example is in a different class, 6cyl rear wheel drive coupe... Homologated rally car specials are a dying breed. Which makes Evos that much more special.
The more time that passes the more your post will resemble telling someone who owns a 69 Camaro that times have changed, and newer cars are more capable off the showroom floor, and to move on.... We are probably at that point already with CT9A given the price appreciation I've witnessed recently.

Times have indeed moved on. Fact.
EV’s replacing gasoline cars are really going to blow ya’ll’s minds.

EVs have blown my mind. A 9 sec stock plaid is just insane and very cool. But i wouldn't buy one. Yea the new supra is a track missle, but no, im not going to buy one. I wish people paying these rediculous prices for the NSX, MK4 supra, R34GRT felt the same way you do so i could buy one of those. I could've bought several different newer cars but i chose an outdated 2010 corvette and i couldn't be happier.

I’m actually serious about the R32, the additional snarky comment was just that.
Allright, now we're talking! Lol. IDK man, for me I think its just these are the cars I grew up with as a kid. Dont get me wrong tho, I will absolutely not deny the performance and value of newer cars. 10 years ago, i would've never thought these cars would perform the way they do.

Some people just don't understand that automotive preferences are not always and entirely based on lap times..especially to those 99.9% of us who don't track our cars. I can't even believe comparisons are being made between an AWD turbo 4 cylinder built off an econobox sedan and a 2 door I6 RWD sports coupe. Similar comparisons can be made between the new Supra and a S1000RR.
One of the main reasons people bought Evo's and STi's is the practicality of 4 doors and the AWD. The new GR Corolla is the closest thing to an Evo we have today and the price for the performance isn't too far off even after 20 years of automotive development.
