what a great car

yesterday I went to a track day, simple cone setup road coarse.
What a blast. I wasn't the fastest Evo, there was another older guy with an evo(I'm no spring chicken myself), and although I didn't see his times, I have a feeling he ran a couple seconds faster than my best.
I used to run an older car that wasn't fast, pointed everyone by, with this car, if you are on top of it, not much pointing (to allow a pass). Heck, unless you really blow a corner the thing just goes where you aim it and skoots.
The car is incredible, even in it's stock form. I don't think hp mods are needed, at least on a twisty track.
But what is really great about this car is the next day you can use it as a daily driver. Wow ! I love it.

Hey Nothere,
Another old guy here (39), just wondering if you used stock brake pads on your track day? Any brake fade?
Agreed, this car is the shizzle! Thanks Mitsu for bringing it to the US!

I'm 36. We need to start the over 30 club. I go to meets where there are other EVOs and the guys are almost all in their early 20s.

ah..., the two evos at the last track day were owned by over 50 guys. me included. a gal in her thirties would be a trophy wife for me, but I could never afford her.

Actually we all should thank the Suba people for brining in the WRX...without the success of the WRX the EVO would still never be imported.

And to all the people who pushed Mitsubishi into brining in the EVO...you know who you are and I thank you.

My EVO is the best car I have ever own, I crave to drive it every day...no car has ever had an effect on me like this before!

right, to get back n subject:

that is a good question about the brake pads. Mitsu chose street pads as they should have.
I had John from RRE borrow my car on the track, after a short day of hard driving the pads were still there, but one pad was erroding in one area. Since then I put in some performance pads (in front) and the car really performes perfectly in braking. This track only had two serious braking spots in about a mile course. No fade. I like to take a little extra cool down drive after tracking and I think that helps.
the track pads squeek so I have to swap them back out if the wife drives the car.

The Evo has been the most fun I have had in a car in a very long time. I have had two Shelby's(65/67). All other kind of Mustangs and other Fords. I went out and bought a new Mustang in January 03. Drove it till September 03. It only had 8000 miles on it. I traded it in for the Evo. Now it's April of 04 I have over 17000 miles on the Evo. What car do you think I like driving more? The Evo is a blast!! I am over 40.

My girlfriend's dad has a 65 reissue Cobra with the 427 side oilier...that motor is a beast!

I love when we drive that thing to Starbucks with the open side exhaust and blip it a couple times...the looks we get are priceless.

Glad to see there are a few -full fledged- adults enjoying the Evo! It's not just a kids toy anymore!
