Let's get an age check from the people that are having problems and wether or not they have taken it to the track. I won't be suprised that the ages will be young and they have taken to the track. Oh, and movies like Fast and the Furious are f-ing up these kids minds ! ! !

LOL, you guys are really quite funny.

These types of threads are pretty useless. There is such a small subset of actual evo owners that actually visit this board, much less post on it. We have no way of knowing from participation on this board the true reliability of the Evo.

I am not saying it is unreliable. Just that none of us have all the facts one way or the other. For those that have posted to this forum, the reliability percentage seems to be high. However, how many people have actually posted in all the different threads? Maybe 50-75 unique posts. That's what 1-5% of the owners out there. That's a pretty small sampling.

Another thing that amazes me is the similarity between the 350Z and Evo communities in responses to people that have issues, whether manufacturer defect or self induced. Until many have had the same problems, there seems to be a period of denial amongst the owners. I hope that won't turn out to be the case for the Evo.

I guess it all goes back to the same thing: If you don't know all the facts, your making assumptions. And well...ah, nvm.

1000 miles on it, Driven very hard, but not abused (its driven smoothly, afterall, smooth=fast) and im 17. Oh, its also track driven in response to stvbreal's idea. F&F is nothing more than glorified car abuse. btw, I had all my stupid driving get out of me in my former 951. And boy, was I just dumb sometimes
I think the general concensus is that not clutch dumping, and not beating the h*** of the car results in something on par in reliability with most other makes and models in the performance catergory.

Nothing wrong with getting feedback from other consumers. People rely on forums like this to get feedback from those who are willing to report problems they've experienced, even if that may offend the cheerleading segment. Since it's human nature to gloss over problems you might have in a new vehicle ( oh, I could NEVER buy a bad car), it's refreshing to get some objective information from those who don't mind sharing some negative experiences.

RE:

Only problems were with dealer. Not very competant. They are a multi dealer, and know more about standard autos, and are not proficient with evos. I am not going to return for service Only 800 miles

18.5k and no issues.

Took my EVO into the dealer one time to have the recall leak checked out and some guy had just bought one EVO after owning an SHO. When i went back to pickup the car, the salesman told me he spent 2.5 hours trying to teach the guy how to drive a stick round the parking lot!

Is it any wonder there are reports of problems.

8k and had the 5th gear replaced at 4200 miles (under warranty). No problems with the clutch, and no problems since.
