Fuel smell in the passenger rear wheel well

I was adjusting suspension and I smell raw fuel in the right rear wheel area. I haven’t done any sort of fuel related mods in years and no check engine light. Any idea what could be causing this?

Probably charcoal canister vapors, despite being on the opposite side.

could be , I did notice when jacking up the rear of the car today, I did smell fuel on the left side as well. My car has a full tank of fuel if that makes a difference .

Pull the bottom of the rear seat and remove the 2 inspection covers. Take a look around. You may have a leaky gasket that only leaks when the tank is close to full.

See 49 seconds into this video for an issue i had years back.

thank you! I watch a lot of your videos and they’re very helpful. I do notice my fuel pump whine is much louder over the past few weeks so I don’t know if that is an indication of noise leaking through a seal as well.ill take a look at both sides.

Just to update, yes it was the passenger side gasket. I lifted the seat and fuel smell was heavy under the inspection cover.

My next question though is that this one connector wiggles right and left slightly. Is this normal or is there a seal?

the quick connect fuel line? I don't really remember how much it wiggles, but you could compare it to the connection point on the drivers side fuel pump housing. They should feel similar.

thank you! It’s the white connector with the plug. I think it’s the power/ground connector . It wiggles a bit.
