Minor play in REAR passenger side wheel

So I was at an autocross yesterday and one of the tech inspection guys told me there seems to be a very slight play in my rear passenger wheel.

He thought it was in / out play and problem with upper control arm ball joint. It was minor enough they were still going to let me run.

I freaked out a bit and had 3 other guys check for any looseness. 2 of them didn't feel anything. 3rd person (who is a member on this forum) thought there is slight play when twisting the wheel while holding it 9-3.

When I got home I jacked up that wheel and checked for looseness but couldn't feel anything . There is also *no* clunk or noise when the car is on the road.

I'm a bit dumbfounded here... where / what should I be checking? I will be traveling 6 hours for a National Tour next month and the last thing I want is failing tech there.

Car is a stock 2011 X with only 20k miles. It is not a DD and hasn't encountered any potholes in its life. It doesn't get driven in the winter so there is *no* rust anywhere in the underbody. It has, however, been autocrossed regularly since 2015.

Wheel bearings can also give a feeling of in and out movement but are usually accompanied with an obnoxious groan.
