Fuel Tank Cleaning / Rust Removal
Fuel Tank Cleaning / Rust Removal
Hey guys,
I am currently restoring a V and one of my priorities is getting the fuel system cleaned. The car has been sitting for years with old fuel so it has accumulated some rust. I have the tank removed and dissassembled and I was thinking about starting the tank cleaning process with phosphoric acid (Vingar) and then nuetralizing with baking soda before apply a fuel tank sealant (depending on results). My issue is I cannot find out if there are any plastic/rubber bits in there. From what I can tell it is all steel but I want to be sure before going ahead with the cleaning. Anyone have any experience with this? Sourcing a new tank is not an easy option these days so any advice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
