Evo 9 start up issues (No Oil pressure)
This is one of the issues you have when you don’t prime the pump. Once the pump can get pressure it’ll fix all of that but it can take a few seconds and make you uncomfortable.
When I did this, I ended up going back and priming the pump for my sanity. It is much much faster and safer for your new motor to pop off the timing belt and spin the hell out of your oil pump for 10 seconds than I was comfortable trying to let the motor run to fix the pressure issue.
It’ll also fix that MIVEC gear slapping against itself.
Someone else may chime in and say send it and it’ll sort itself out but I’m not that guy.
i also checked for leaks spinning the oil pump before I ran the motor. Helped me spot a couple annoyances I would have had a hard time feeling around a hot engine for.
