Urgent advise before buying, rear leg hole

Hi guy, im from france, Savoie, a mountain part of it with snow
About to buy an Evo 7
I have checked all the subject on the forum about those infamous rear leg and the one i want ofc had it, undiscovered by the actual owner before the sale

I want to know something, more rust related in general

-If i make a temporary repair on this leg, does the other leg will fail invitabely on the long run?
How many time could i get for a repair before totaly changing the rear legs, judging by what is around the hole actually im not worried it seems pretty ok and my soldering mechanic had the same view about it.

-Iv seen plenty of horror pictur from people living in salt area and it will be my case, the car is located actualy in south of france and it has been spared by salt due to, no snow or freez at all in those region
The car seems in pretty good condition from what i have seen and im worried about me driving it on salt road just to destroy it in few years cause it seems they REALLY dont like salt at all.
And when drived in those condition on the forum it seem to rust not only on leg but EVERYWHERE.

This is the thing that worry me the most if i dont spend like 2 -3K to fully protect the under of it i had the feeling it will rot in piece in few winter but maybe im wrong?

For you and just looking by the pictur does the car look in good condition?

Thanks for answer it would help i had to gave an answer to the guy tomorow

It does not look too bad at all. go for it. I have 1981 toyota and the frame was still perfect for its age but I rarely drove it in the rain or snow. sheet metal did get rust where water was being trapped (parked outside)

Yhea but the huge issue and as far as i understand, it's the rust and especially salt, and where i live there is tons of salt on road
Iv seen some really bad pictur in UK where there isnt even half of the salt they drop in mountain here, and trust me i can gather it with my hand some day it will even make you slip
I just realize in few hours it's not gonna make it , but not for the issue with leg honestly, its a whole "rust" thing about lancer 7 8 9 and the need to do some big overhall of undercarriage if wanted to be drived in harsh and salt condition that im not financially able to do now neither this year.
One of the last thing i want is trash this car like i used to trash my M3....i know well i wouldnt be able to do in time what everything need to be done for it to didnt end in a rustbucket state

Few friend told me i will have to replace both legs anyway as soon as possible.

I couldnt afford an entire under overhall and protection so im gonna let it go.....im sad cause it's financial i was already barely overlimit with timing belt asap replacement and the leg repair but thats a bit too much for me and i dont want to ruin a beautifull maintened condition in south of france that hasnt even see a snowflake
Initialy i wanted to do it in 2 years but it will be to late and salt + humidity will probably ruin it before....

Thanks for your answer

When i was with the M3 E36 long time ago with Evo friend doing some ice / snow climbing ...

Sad i lost touch with most of them so i didnt know they have ended eating salt every year but they had money back in the day so iknow well spending 10K to make it brand new wouldnt make them afraid

ok. well i atleast those legs are available in europe. it shouldnt be too hard to completely rustproof that whole thing plus it seems cool to have splash guards in those snowy areas. I would completely power wash the underside of the car including the top of the fuel tank
