Yeah, the water down evo will cost 30k and the Ralliart version???? will cost 40K. J/K.

Mitsubishi said they'll bring the evo in JDM form except what the U.S. regulation could not allow. Not everyone could afford a 30K so they spread rumors to make them feel better. The real rumor is the Evo coming out in Jan and an upgraded OZ Lancer later.

How about this? Everyone already knows what is true right? Mitsu is bringing a version of the Evo, 250hp+ under $30K, to be released in Jan. 03 this is fact. Right?

An upgraded model for the USDM Lancer with 150hp GDI motor and available with optional AWD to be released at about the same time as the Evo in Jan. 03. No official confirmation from MMC but several sources have stated this. Fact or fiction?

And as others have mentioned a real deal Ralliart Evo to be released in 2004 to counter Subaru's release of the Sti. Several sources state this also. Real or rumor?

From a business stand point this makes good sense, Subaru opened the door with the release of the WRX. Mitsu is countering with this 250hp+ under $30K Evo in Jan. 03. Followed by the release of the Sti from Subaru sometime next year. The next logical step for Mitsu would be to bring the real Ralliart version of the Evo Vlll that the rest of the world is going to get.

As RAX had qouted Sti's Prez: " It's a chess match between them(MMC) and us (Subaru) in Japan currently, so why would it be any different in the States?"

So what does everyone think? Are there going to be THREE versions?

Personally, I wouldn't be suprised if they debuted the watered down version (essentially a OZ with AWD, and a turbo [I doubt seriously that mitsu will change the OZ for another 5 years or so, seeing as the 03 models are out, and no different from the 02s]), waited to see what happens with the STi, and if there is not going to be a major threat from the STi, then, just release the Ralliart Version. Or, if there is, then upgrade the Ralliart Version.

Don't everyone act so shocked: The Turbo Lancer Cedia with AWD is the basis for the Evo, and always has been. Basically, if you're not familiar, think WRX Impreza except looks like the current incarnation of Lancer on this side of the pond. Then, Ralliart "tunes" these cars, shoves a 4G63T in them (I think this is accurate), stiffens the chasis, adds goodies like the AYC, ACD, Recaro seats, big *** Brembos, wheels, tires, and all the other **** that make the Evolutions... Evolutions. In my opinion, I think that the EVO VIII, while it will no doubt be a damn fine car, is a step backwards if it comes without the AYC/ACD, as required to fit a bigger gas tank in. I mean, the AYC/ACD represents one of the greatest innovations in AWD, and thereby Automotive, history, and to take it out is a betrayal to what the name Evolution suggests.

But, I'm sure that there are others that would say that more HP and a six speed transmission more than make up for components that improve handling, and set the EVO VII ahead of the pack being gone. I'm just saying that I'm not one of them.

I still don't believe this theory of getting rid of the AYC to fit a bigger gas tank. If it's not necessary in order to bring the car to the US, then why do it? It's just an added cost to make a bigger gas tank for the US. If anything, they'll just get rid of AYC to save costs and not even bother with the gas tank. Or they'll design a bigger gas tank for all markets that works with the AYC/ACD or whatever new system they have.

See, thats what I thought, I never even knew that they were thinking of getting ride of the AYC or ACD.... I personally think that is all horse poop. I am just worried about them not bringing the Evo at its realized potential... that and paying 30G's for some kind of knock off. I was wondering if anything has been published in the october go-around of magizines that says something concrete... I havent had a chance to read and of those issues yet... thanks guys

New USDM LANCER. Yes but my sources say it is not nearly ready. 2004 model? Have TECH Bulletin for Mitsubishi. They show all the new vins for 2003 and their meanings. EVO vin is there. Regular OZwith 2.0 motor is there and of course LS and ES. Not conclusive but thought it might help.

Yeah, could you explain the TECH Bulliten a little more. Is this exclusive info that you get because of your affiliation or is it public knowledge?

Thanks!
