Talking N00B Post.... $500 HELP!

Hi guys, I kind of posted a newbie post in the Newbie section but for those that didn't see just wanted to say Hi to all you fellow EVO owners.. Also had a few questions that maybe someone could answer ..

I have already bought the Evo Badge and a Greddy S type BOV...

With that being said what is the best mod(s) (performance wise aka HP) that I can get for around $500 ? I have that sitting ready to spend but I don't know if I should go a with a boost controller, with an intake, with exhaust ... Any / all help would be greatly appreciated !! THANKS GUYS!!!

boost controller 1st IMO. Leave the stock airbox!! K&N drop in air filter, Dynoflash last, because you always have to get a reflash with the addition of new parts. A reflash cost as much as $250 - $300. I'm yet to get mine done

If you don't have at least a boost gauge, get one. Even though it's not a performance improvement, it is a must. After that, then a reflash from any of the vendors would be good.

I think a downpipe and air intake will give you about 10 HP and you can find some around $500

start working on your exhaust. There's a lot to choose from. You can get a cat-back new or maybe a whole turbo-back used. You're definitely going to get your money's worth power wise. A boost controller can net you big gains too, but there's a bigger risk of problems with that. Save the flash for later until you get your major mods out of the way.

Mail in dynoflash (ecu flash) , manual boost controller and a boost gauge (autometer) = about $350 use the rest for a radar detector

But it all depends on how far you wanna take your car powerwise. If you are looking for just a little more umph those two items will do well.

For $450 you can get a cat-back exhaust. You can install yourself in about 1.5 hours and save the $$. If your planning on lots of mods - go with 3". If you're not going to do too much to the engine and leave it mostly stock - stick with 2.5".

A BOV and intake are a waste of $$.

Do your own research and worry about a flash later. There will be lots of reading to do before choosing which vendor to do with! You can also put off buying a boost guage until then! See, it all makes sense!

Dynoflash is a company that does ecu reflash-tuning.

You send them your ecu, a list of mods on your car and the octane fuel you use. They take your ecu and load a new, more aggressive map onto your ecu. You take the ecu, plug it back in and enjoy the addtl 25 +/- hp and the torque that keeps building up to redline.
