Sell the M3, get an EvoVII and pocket the extra cash?
are you nuts?!?! the rule is that if you ever get an M3 in your possession you keep it unless to exchange it for a newer M3. the M3 is best overall car in the world of all time. no joke, no competition, no doubt. fuq the money.
...although the Evo does look very tempting

Thanks Hobie, I'll shoot him a PM... is he in the US? Did EI import a Evo6 TME for him? That was another one I was considering but not sure if it was available and at what price... might have to call Adam again tomorrow.

M3's are great cars I'm sure, but to say they're the best in the world is just plain silly. There are faster and better handling cars (Evo) that cost less. The only reason I'd hold onto it would be because I wouldn't fear much depreciation. Those things truly hold value. On the other hand if you could get an Evo VII plus money for parts or just plus money I think you'd be far better off as far as the driving experience goes. ...just don't expect the interior to be as nice.

sell the m3 n get the evo man.
the evo's performance is abt tht of m3.maybe even better i guess coz of all the performance videos i've d/led...the evo always wins.if not most of the time...
i had this video with 2 evos(GSR n GT-A) againt 2 m3(5m n SMG) n 2 Frerrari f1(forgot the diff the 2 ferraris)........aniway.the evo7 GSR came inf irst followed my ferrariF1 then M3 5m....then evo GT-A....followed by a wite frerra F1....the M3 was in fifth place but it skidded off the track...maybe due to tht fact it's Rear wheel drive? dun noe much abt m3 though...
but if m3 were rear wheeled.then the evo definitely has an edge over m3 in handling.
well if i were u.i would sell the m3.hav some pocket money.dump it in the alreadi magnificant evo tht has equivalent performance with the m3.n supp the evo up to even greater heights.....whao....
cant imagine...how it would be like driving a supped up evo7 down the street.
all the best though.make a wise decision.juz my opinion.=)

Hi there
I do indeed live in France. Before I bought my first Evo 6 two years ago, I had owned an M3 3.2l (321bhp) for 2 years. I have also test driven the new E46 M3 3.3l (343bhp).
The power delivery is very different on an M3 compared to an Evo. The M3 is very linear pulling from lov revs, and the Evo is more brutal, only going from 3500 rpms (not that you couldnt clutch in above that
). I prefer a rawer machine and am very happy with the Evo. It feels a lot faster, although it is only slightly faster (in a straight line and in standard form).
What I like a lot about the Evo is the tuning potential. With an exhaust and ECU, you get over 350 - 360 bhp, which brings the 1/4 mile down to 12.5s from 13.1s. The standard turbo can deliver 375 bhp approx. without cams. With a little engine work for reliability, 400 bhp are achievable. You couldnt do that with an M3 unless you add forced induction.
Another point would be the roadholding, very important here in the South of France where the streets are twisty (like the Rally Monte Carlo special stages, 10 miles from my home). No road car can corner as fast as an Evo.
In an M3, passengers get the feeling that it is fast. You can always slightly drift through corners, which is pleasant, but ultimately slow. If you drive the same way in an Evo, you will be going much faster.
In the Evo, you dont get the impression iof going that fast, but you are! You realize that when you lose grip going over a wet spot on the road etc.
To me, and for my use, there isnt a better car than an Evo. For the San Francisco Bay area, an M3 could be the better choice I guess, unless you want to drive on twisty mountain roads or track. (On a map of San Francisco, you can see that there is only one road with curves in it!

Claudius, man...know of any jobs near you for a stupid, non-french speaking American?
Driving Jersey roads is more like a pothole dodging, construction riddled experience than anything else.
I need a wee beast of a car and some fun roads.
Whatever you do loki I dont' think you'll be disappointed with the car you have. Both are true beauties as far as I'm concerned. (Though I'm far more partial to the Evo
