Good question Thwack..I'm sure the Evo will get plenty of plublicity just from magazine reviews. I guess their thinking is that the majority of the US doesn't know about the Evo..and to complete their boost in image they need to show everyone what their flagship car is all about. They don't want people to think it is just some awd $30k econobox. They feel if they can pull people into dealerships to see the Evo they have the potential to sell them another car..

Hey, the less advertising the better. More for us.
If you don't already know about this car - it's not for you!!!
Back to important matters - Braf - thanks for the invaluable info dude. Your experience here is sorely needed.
I'd like to know if the AYC/ACD intervines too much, or too abruptly at times so that it unsettles the car?
How does the car react as the system cuts on or off?

Don't buy any used Sentra SE-R's from Miami area Mitsubishi dealershps..

huhu

SC
Very funny SC!!!!
But it's not as bad as it sounds - Really.
I'v only spun out 3 times on public roads,
uh.... OK, make that 4 times (forgot about that handbrake turn in the rain that turned into a 180) AND only once had any car damage ( bent the rear control arm on my first 300ZX) but even that , was when I just switched from FWD to RWD for the first time.
Hence, you CAN buy SE-R's in Miami, with your eyes closed, even.
Besides, these cars were made to be spanked!

Latest update:
"This US model is all assembly line, but the unibody is reinforced over the VII's unibody with additional meat and welds. No RALLIART building or modification."
Basically, the VIII we are getting will have even more welds, etc. and be more rigid BUT it will be done on asssembly line. No Ralliart affiliation.

Broeli, what's your source on this?
Paul Hansen mentioned Ralliart involvement is very important to retain the essence of the EVO.
So, this is NOT necessarily good news.

As long as it cranks out that kind of power I could care less about who had a hand in it!

My source is the same for all the other info..can't tell who it is..but they are directly involved with the Evo.
The importance of Ralliart involvement was because of the extra that goes into them..such as the extra welds that aren't on typical Lancers, etc. All of this and more has been incorporated into the assembly line process to increase production for the World release which would be too much for Ralliart to handle. The quality will still be there and I'm told that it will be even more rigid than the VII.

Thanks for the update broeli.
Hopefully really listened to Ralliart and will produce a car exactly to Ralliart specs.
I'm not worried about reliability, quality and fit and finish. has proven their prowess to me over 20 years. I just hope that the EVO will continue to be the road monster it has become known for.

Yeah...

Of course, if DC puts their hand in, they may actually improve the factory line a bit.

But I know the purists still lament the day when the Evo's and STi's went beyond the hand-built engine days.

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

I think it was after Ver. III for the STi, but I could be mistaken. I know for certain that the Evo and STi version 1's were completely handbuilt - and those engines made stonkin amounts of power. I'll ask around after I get through the present deadlines.

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

I don't think DC could improve anyone's quality.

I got some extra info on the if you didn't know already.
I went to dealership to find out how they are going to release the car and here is what they said,"the car will have a 5k mark up ($35,000 )and it will be released early jan. ,and the dealerships that are getting it will get ONE every THREE months gggg (that 4 cars a year ) but you can reserve one for $1000 but god knows how many people are ahead of you. good luck .i think i will try to get one in 2-3 years with that price tag + taxes.Hope then it will drop a little.

Sorry KINGEVO7 but your dealer doesn't know crap. BTW, not all dealers will have a markup..some will even sell for below msrp..especially after it's out a few months.
