New Evo VIII info!
guys, im pretty new to this forum. its good to see that people in america know and appreciate the evolution for the amazing piece of rallying technology that it is. Anyway Im an engineering student in Canada but my mom and family are from Trinidad.( Caribbean). I just came back a while ago and my brother has a white evo 7. after driving it, i must say that if mitsu plans to leave out the acd/ayc, im really dissapointed. These features contribute alot to the dynamics, handling, and overall uniqueness of the evolution. Irs amazing driving the evolution around corners i can tell u that. You give the throttle all u want around corners and the evo takes u through. In addition, from what ive heard about the hp reduction, lowered throttle response is something i dont like. My brother was already dissapointed with the lowered throttle response from the 6.5 tme which he owned previously. Im more pissed that i cant get an evo, fully loaded or half assed in canada. do you guys know if ill be able to get a full jspec evo 8 or 9 when it comes out, into canada. If u do, any help would be aprreciated....
I must say after driving the evo tme, and the evo 7 i cant settle for a us spec, ill have to get the jspec.....after all i might as get a supra or Sti

"Not all dealerships will have a mark up!!" BROELI ARE you listening to yourself ,that is how dealerships initially make their money ,yes all dealerships may not have a 5k mark-up but they will have a mark up and if it is that limited, dealerships will take advantage of that .Maybe you live in a very rural area where people don't want that car.Cause even the wrx had some kind of mark up , my friend has one and he payed a little over 24k but i have herd of poeple paying close to 30k and that is knot as limited as the evo VIII. So in reality with the availability the price should drop in a year and a half .
Just as the wrx did.

I went to
dealership to find out how they are going to release the car and here is what they said,"the car will have a 5k mark up ($35,000
)and it will be released early jan. ,and the dealerships that are getting it will get ONE every THREE months gggg (that 4 cars a year ) but you can reserve one for $1000 but god knows how many people are ahead of you. good luck .i think i will try to get one in 2-3 years with that price tag + taxes.Hope then it will drop a little.

I'm sure that many cars from the first shipments will be sold at hefty premiums because these dealers operate independently, and this is a HOT new release.
I'll be waiting for things to cool down as well, before I get caught in the early rush.

it's not that hard to believe. Some will have markup some wont.
For example, in nor. cal there are 4 or 5 MINI dealers. Out of the 5 there is one dealer who is not marking up one red cent. They also happen to be my local dealer. The end result? their Waiting list for a MINI Cooper S is over a year long.
Personally I'm willing to wait. MSRP includes the dealer profit. If the dealer is greedy I have no problem walking out of the dealership. Even if they call me back with an offer of MSRP, I refused. Based purely on principle.

kingevo7,
Your dealer is BS'ing you.
If each delaership was only to get 4 cars per year, and they are making 4k EVO's per year, there would have to Mitsu 1000 dealerships in the US alone....and there aren't...

OK - Time for a little clearing up.
There are a little over 600
dealers in the US. They plan on selling between 5-6k the first year. Not all dealers will get one of the initial shipments, because there is performance criteria. The rest will be earned based on Lancer sales, and later on EVO sales performance as they go forward. If you put money down on a promise, your crazy. Get it in writing! Haven't we been over this before? Who's got new news

Luce, to add to your post, a friend of mine is the President/Owner of two Mitsu dealerships in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. I spoke with his General Manager a few days ago and he had just found out that they would more than likely be skipped on the first allotment due to a few reasons. He was told that the dealers who were to receive cars from the first allotment had to meet a few requirements. These requirements include (but are not limited to):
1. All sales personnel must be Diamond Star Certified.
2. Consistent CDI (Customer Dissatisfaction Index) ratings up around 100%. This is a monthly rating.
3. Whatever other criteria they might need to meet, of which I didn't inquire.
Since this dealership in paticular has dropped below the 100% mark a couple times recently and not all of their sales personnel are certified (although I really have no idea, he just seemed to be letting onto that fact by bringing it up) he is pretty sure they will not see any cars during the first allotment.
Hopefully this will give you guys a better idea as to how the cars will be split up amongst dealers. Oh yeah, he was working his numbers using a 632 store number. Take it for what it's worth, but I feel this to be helpful information.

Yeah that is interesting info when you consider he is a good sized dealer and runs the risk of not getting one of the initial vehicles. I would definitely warn people to be carefull who they give deposits too. Cause getting cash back from a dealer is like getting your tonsils removed ....... through your ****.
More info on the j-spec version.
