Wow
Iv had my evo for one month now. I LOVE every time I take a seat and drive it. To day is supposed to be 90 degrees and up in DC area and my parents left my old car at home. So I found the keys to the S2000 and took it. For a month of driving the evo I forgot how FUN it is to drive RWD. I had a blast driving the car this morning to work making me late.
I dont have a bias to eith cars, but since insurance is higher for me on the s2k the evo is my primary car. But this morning I forgot how fun and open driving the roadster was. Given the two cars are 2 different classes, I think the fun factor is about the same. These hot summer days as I drove the EVO alot I wished the top was down rather than the sunroof was open. But in days where I wanna dip, the evo never lets down.
I noticed on the comparison between the evo and s2k 's engine response is very different. MY evo REvs to 7.5k rpm VERY QUICKLY I guess its the boost. but when in the NA car it felt as if the engine response is Slow. Maybe I forgot how much a difference a lightened flywheel in an NA car makes.
All in all, I love both cars. The evo just makes more of a practical car than the s2k. But if you get to drive it once in a while, its like your in heaven.

i owned an '01 s2000 for a couple years. great car. has the same go-cart handling as an evo (although i think the evo has better steering feel overall). it's too bad they "detuned" the new s2k's to make them more user friendly for people who can't drive. less oversteer+less peaky power delivery=less fun.

I traded a Mustang Cobra for the Evo. Although I really enjoy the handling the Evo provides I really do miss the fun of a rwd backed up with gobs of torque. The Evo makes for fun spirited driving through canyon twisties but burnouts and sliding out of corners are some attributes that makes me wish that I had more money to splurge to purchase another rwd car.
nine what year cobra did you have? I was thinking about picking up a cobra for a RWD project car. I was thinking 2001 or 2003, i am leaning toward 2001 because I can get one dirt cheap and slap a supercharger on it.
As for RWD bias and power throttle over steer, the Evo does this, even with full slicks on all four corners. it just takes a some power adders, suspension setup and plenty of open track. You'll be doing it at much higher levels of adhesion than most cars. Except maybe some race 911 turbos and 360 challenge race cars.

I think I'd go Z06 over an Evo if I could.
