Unhappy Advice Anyone

well here's the situation. recently in the past i bought an aem intake for my evo VIII. well after putting it on problems occured. like my rpm gauge drops like everyone 3mins. not enough to stall though. an i felt that i lost power . boost that is. i ask many people and they said that u do lose about 2-3 pounds of boost . not sure if that's true. but honestly my car didn't pull as it used to after the installation. well i decide to take it off. now that it's off. i ask around and a good friend of my said that . u can try just putting on the filter and leave the hoses. i thought about that. i'm i wanted to know what everyone's though is or any advice for that matter. u see the reason he said to put just the filter on is that. supposly the hose that were made for the intake were too big or just the piping itself didn't work well . so i'm gonna try this when i get home to see if the car will run well only putting on the filter . let me know what u think and if anyone has any advice plz help>>>>>> i felt that i bought my aem for nothing. and wasted money. o yeah one other thing. other say that the intake for evo VIII are useful if ur doing hard tunning. i'm only planning to do light tunning . i already have a downpipe and only plan to put my filter on ....

If your gonna keep the intake get your car either flashed or get a fuel management system. Your car is most likely running lean. You don't want that

I had the problem too after gettin my K&N, so I said screw it and picked up a AEM EMS and I feel like i'm driving a different car

If you're only doing light tuning a you probably won't need an intake, the stock box is nice, although you can hardly hear the turbo or bov.

honestly for some people it will work and others will get wild MAF readings. If it didn't work for you get rid of it and don't go back otherwise it will bother your mind till you take it off. I have the same filter with no issues but if it caused a problem this is what I would do. I have done this with other parts so don't go down the unhappy route.

My idle was crazy after having installed the A'PEXi power intake. It took about 10 days for the MAF and ECU to re-learn its breathing habits, and now it's stable.

Just in case, check any loose vacuum lines and definitely reset your ECU after installation.

Reset ECU by disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for a few minutes. Check your installation of the intake (hoses and bolts) Make sure everything is tight and secured. Sounded like you might have a leak somewhere when you idle is erratic. I had the HKS RS and Apexi Power Intake with no idle issues.

larger intake or not, you're loosing hp because you're sucking in hot engine bay air and not the compressed cold air.

You have to remember, smaller colder air is the same as large hot air, since the cold air is packed more tightly then hot air, thus delivering more air to your engine.

I would stick with the stock airbox, unless you could re-route your intake filter to get out of the engine bay.

This is an old argument that I dont buy. When the car is moving a lot of cold air is moving around the engine compartment. I thinks the air is plendy cold when the car gets moving. Wanna check this, data log the stock intake air temp sensor before and after. Be sure to note the ambinent temps on your runs for correction.
