Waste of money since I never use my A/C. Good to know though.

$80 could get me 16 Manhattens (not including tips).

I don't think it's worth it, unless you have a weak lung or something. Or baby in the car. or Old.

I understand it will cut-down in-cabin dust considerably - and yes, you'd have to change it once in a while...

You know they're having the HID as an Option on 04'?

I don't get that... And the IC sprayer is out.

I'm glad I got the 03'.

Because I don't need all the leather and other stuff.

There sure is a great deal of noise on this thread.....

When you get this together please post some pics of the installation (e.g. what is cut, where / how you mount the cover / etc).

Good find.

Im sure home depot has some air condition ducting filters used on those economy sized machines that you can buy by the foot or something. Trim to fit, voila!

I think (based on what has been posted) the IC spray is gone and the HID is an options on the 05's.

Great find!! FWIW, if you're like me and you run defrost all the time (the second right-most setting on the vent controls), then w/out a filter your windshield tends to get grimy pretty fast ... it's off to the dealer I go!

EXCELLENT FIND! Please post pics when you do your install! I want to see exactly where to cut, and how the screws hold the whole assembly together.

I had this on my WRX and was very happy with the results. Far, far less dust on the dash than any other car I've owned. I don't believe that it needs to cost $80 though. Someone can probably find it for a lot less online somewhere. I think the Subaru one was around $70 at the dealer, but about $35 online.

At $80, did the dealer say if it was just a particulate filter? Or does it also have an activated charcoal layer to it? If it has charcoal, it really isn't too bad of a deal. (charcoal eliminates odors from coming into the car)

Make sure you change it every couple years though, or your HVAC performance will drop off a bit due to decreased airflow.

when your with a hot chick and drive past a sulfur plant, as long as you have the windows up, the filter will prevent the car from smelling like you crapped your pants. Won;t have to be emabarrassed trying to act like you don;t smell it. Thats what filters are for. Big waste of money if you are already farting in your car anyway. I wish the 03 had HID as an option. I hate them.. wish I just had some real good halogens. Cheaper to replace, light is better spread out... just like it better. Not a big HID fan in any car I have driven.
