Intercooler Pipe Warning!
Intercooler Pipe Warning!
Well I had recently installed a buschur intercooler complete kit (all pipping and front mount/blow off valve). Well after I had installed it the car for some reason felt a little bit more sluggish. I thought maybe my Greddy Profec B wasn't working all that well. I decided to give Buschur's manual boost controller a try since I like the idea of less eletronics in the car. I then installed the controller and did not sense a change but did see more of a drop in top end boost. I had driven like this for probably a month now and was tired of the sluggishness. I decided it was time to put my mind at ease and pressure test the system. I went to home depot and bought some stuff and made a intake fitting that would allow me to feed in air. It all took about 15 minutes to do and wasn't really a big deal. Well what do you know when I turned on the pressure what do I hear? SHHHHHHHH all around the blow off valve!! I feel around and find 2-3 pin sized holes in the welding around the flange and also find the blow off valve flange was not sealing in the middle. Though I really like buschur products and their service. It all simply appears to be poor craftmanship. The flange is most likely warped from the weld and why the weld wasn't checked for pin sized holes is beyond me. I would think it would be a common thing to check for (a complete weld). The flange has another problem which is the gasket overlaps the flange too much around in the center making it a point for air resistance. It seems that also aids the air leak in the center. I also felt some decent air learks around the turbo outlet. It also does not seem to be sealing... My warning to everyone is if you buy aftermarket intercooler pipes check them before install. I did not and that was my mistake. Also pressure test everything after install.

I bought the Bushcur 2.5 in DP, it took me 2hours of custom fabrication to get it to fit properly.....all the welds were off on the flanges. I wrote Bushur and e-mail and all they had to say was "sorry" I will never buy there products again.
Sorry you guys have had bad experiences. Stuff happens. The advisory was for IC paipes in general. Turned out to be a bash session. I have had problems with vendors such as BR before. However, when I did call I spoke with either someone that was helpful or David himself. Do you really think that if you called HKS, that you would even get to speak to someone that would be able to tell you sorry. You had custm work done to accomodate, could have just sent it back and got a new one. Thats what normally transpires. Anywho, the point of this post appears to be "Verify functionality of parts after you install them". Understood.
But you dont get **** like that from HKS man. They have very good quality control and that is the reason why their products cost as much as they are. That to me is just poor quality control on their part. Well, I guess you get what you paid for. I think there is just no excuse for such poor quality products.

all i have to say about BR is that if you guys think they are so bad why do they have the worlds fastest talon and i am sure they will have one of the fastest evos. also hks is a worldwide company that is huge so when you compare it to a one shop store making their own custom stuff you have to give BR some credit
I had my 1st BR Turbo back not fit, they took it back, 2nd one didn't fit that well ut better then the 1st, I had Turbo Trixx massage it, then it fits perfectly. AS far as performance wise, it is the best, and lightest, but dose have trouble clearing the rear dif.....

I personally didn't say Buschur was a bad shop. I said I like their products and service but in this case it was simply poor craftmanship. So, I thought I would give everyone a heads up to make sure and check pipping you buy from vendors to make sure they are not obvious leaks before hand and leaks after the install.

All it takes is money not skill. I know several people who got rid of the BR exhaust because it beats the hell out of the bottom of the car and sounds like a tractor.

Hrm, this is unfortunate, hopefully David can fix this. My BR 3in exhaust bolted on with zero problems and had no banging or clearance issues. I have spoke to them many times with tech questions, including David. They stand behind their products, and more importantly they answer the phone - which is more than Vishnu or Pruven can say (my first two choices for parts).
2fast2stupid: Can you keep the muckracking out of here? Please, everyone is sick or your offtopic antics. They just happened to build a seven second car by accident (on a budget that's 1/10th the other pro-teams)?

I recently put the upper IC pipe on and found that the BOV did not sit flat on the flange. Apparently when they are welded up the center area is shrinking from the weld and the bolt hole areas stick up.
