my evo has been ruined
ofcourse your friend should pay the damages... he F'ed up.... only time i'll let someone drive my evo is if i know he wont go nuts with it.... then he can try it out alil ... but if i see my any family member or friend who is abit TOO anxious to try it out.. most likely they'll go crazy and/or loose control.
My dad said it was partly my fault and partly my friends. My dad will pay for half and my friend will pay for half of the damages. What surprised me is that my dad isn't pissed at all, in fact he told me that things can happen. I have the best daddy ever.

If your friend is a licensed and insured driver, your dad should file a claim with his homeowners insurance against your friend so he pays for it 100% since it was 100% his fault.
I've only let 3 people EVER drive any of my vehicles. The first one is my stepdad, second is my mother, and the third is my best friend who's been driving standard for most of his life in anything imaginable (18wheelers, bulldozers, backhoes). They try peer pressuring you into letting you drive them, I tell them I'm not a dealership, and if they want to drive it, I'll sell it to them for 26,5.
I had a drunk friend fall into my passenger side door and dent it...I was helpling him.....the dent you can only see in certain light at a certain angle but its still there....shat happens i guess. I probably should have him pay for the paintless dent removal, but I can;t even get the cheap *** to pay for the utilties for our place up at school (Purdue University just in case anyone is from Indiana).

HAHAHA
But seriously... when I was 17 I would have loved it if my biggest problem was that my brand new EVO MAY be hurt.
Nobody got hurt... sounds like you can still get the money to fix it if it is...
And the moral isn't to not let anyone touch your car... the lesson is to only let people who understand the basic fundamentals of a manual sit in the drivers seat with keys in hand...
Your friend has to be retarded... he had to engage the clutch to start it... start reving the vehicle... let out the clutch... not be able to hit the brake when it jolted... and the entire time not noticed that it was in gear... impressive
Peace
insomniac,
like wizeguy I found it difficult to believe that a guy could drop the clutch after he started the car without checking the gear.
at first I thought the story was about a kid starting the car in gear, so I was pointing out it was not possible.
if I missed your point what are you asking?
