Deals on Evo7?

What kind of deal or deposit have you guys found on the Evo 7? Anything concrete yet?

My local dealer knows nothing about the car, yet is still charging a $1K refundable deposit (not bad). They are total jerks however and by the time they called me back (over a week), the waiting list had jumped from 2 to 10. The first allocation is now gone. Their story about dealer markup changes everytime I talk to them. "MSRP only" then "well the car is rare, so who knows what we'll final price it at..." and more BS. Reminds me of the WRX BS last year.

I'm hoping that a volume dealer will step up like they did for the WRX last year and offer the car below MSRP. Anyone got any leads?

All I know is that I've got a $500 deposit down at my dealer for the car at MSRP.

Make SURE you get that in writing. I'm serious. Dealers will have no qualms about screwing you and jacking up the price a few K once it gets here, and you will have nothing you can do but pay or walk away.

I'm not getting nor putting money down for Evo 7. My local dealer wants $20k down

I want to see first how they are put together for the US market.
Plus it is better to wait a year or two to see how the car performed. The first batch normally comes with a little extra that you dont want, "bugs". Just like the WRX when they first got here, lots of people getting "check engine light". So waiting a little bit longer will let them fix all the bugs and stuff.

If the performance is dissapointing plus bad reliability, I'll take the WRX.

There shouldn't be any MAJOR mechanical problems, but most likely there will be recalls and such because each market has a different build of car to meet regs.

Sparko does it not upset you that we, as Canadians, can't even put a deposit down on an EVO because there are no Mitsu dealerships here to take our money? Sigh...

same thing happen with the WRX...

put money down wat 3-4 months and receive the car. I you wanted to see the car and then test drive it, it was a bit hard since every single one was sold for about 2-3 months... nowdays it is no prob to check it out testdrive etc....

my guess is that it would be the same with the EVO.

cheers

T.

Are there any private companies who may import an Evo other than Mitsu themselves?

I'm keen to find some info, but can't find a lot on the web, can any of you guys point me in the right direction?

Cheers

This is like a blast for the past...this is pre "Where did you get an Evo (7) from?" and almost before "I live my life a quarter mile at a time."

But honestly, I wish I had been interested in cars BEFORE all the Fast and the Furious caught my attention as well as millions of knob jobs (some respectable people too). However, before all that, I was only 11 years old ...
