I caught my neighbor's kids vandalizing my car. It actually happened several times before I caught em. It was really lame stuff like pissing in some container then dumping it in the cowl so the heater would pull the smell in the car, dumping ashtrays in the same area, putting bottles behind the tires, and demolishing a beater with large rocks. They broke all the windows out, demolished every body panel, it was really bad. The beater was a friend's car I was fixing for him, I had to pay for it out of pocket. I couldn't prove who did it, so nothing happened.

I finally stayed up and caught em at it. I ran outside and threw them both on the ground and had them pinned. I wasn't stupid, I never hit them or hurt them in any way. I yelled at em right in the face from about an inch away. I had them pissing down their legs. That was the last time anything ever happened to my cars...

And sorry to hear about your cars guys... You are not alone. Your best bet is to catch them on video and let the cops deal with them. Catching them in person makes it VERY hard to control your temper...

my drive-way is adjacent to this house's backyard and these lil punks had a ball throwing rocks at my WRX. didn't know it at the time, i was sleeping. my mom just happen to be outside and caught them. woke me up and showed me the damage and i was HEATED!!!! went upstair to the kid's house, told him to come down and showed him. what pissed me off too was that he was trying to denied it even though my mom saw it. the lady upstair from me even caught them. the jackass even told me to consider contacting my insurance company but i told him to either pay for it or the cops are going to deal with this. ended up dishing out the $500 to repair it.

Maybe you should keep a low profile and if you talked shlt before, you should stop?

Just my thought, because I have few friends who's gone through that and it's mostly because they're cocky whenever they're out with their car.

i was gonna say the same thing. People usually do this when they hate u not the car. If it has happened more than once, its DEFINITELY u they dont like. If its once, it could be just some piece of shet who wanted to mess up a nice car. Twice, its usually someone u pissed off. Someone once made a threat to damage my car on belhalf of someone who didnt like me. I simply reminded them I knew where their "friend" lived and their home would recieve whatever dmg is done to me 10 fold since they didnt have a car. I never heard from them again and my car is still safe. That was months ago. Dont make enemies. If u have them, make them nuetral.

Garage is a must. I would not consider having a decent car sans garage. And plus, someone on the street in front of your apt/house is one thing, but the garage is considered in your home, so you can shoot!! Yeah! But seriously, have you considered a beater? I know I can take my 93' Civic hatch anywhere and no ones seems to even notice it. It's not the coolest, but I dont' have to worry.. save the 30k ride for those nice spirited weekend drives and such. I haven't even got my Evo yet but I know it's list of destinations will be limited.. It sucks that it has to be like that because when you have a car of that caliber you naturally want to drive it everyone out of sheer joy. But this is the world we live in and we must deal with it. (and all the tools that surround us)

The guy's original question was this:

He's got nothing but a steady blast from people saying to move, park in a garage or erect some kind of infrared McGuyver security system. Other than the guy who busted kids throwing snowballs: Have you ever caught somebody in the act of vandalism?

I feel for ya

I have a completly stock ES.... but even the most basic of cars can attract attention to punks. I mess around a little bit here and there on the street when I am driving and last summer when I ran into a really sharp lookin civic ex at the light, he felt like messing around. When it turned green he took off and being new to driving I decided to catch up, and despite all his aftermarket looks, a stock lancer can still beat a stock civic. So I assumed that was the end of it.

But they followed me around the rest of the night and I started to get nervous so I drove home...

Well, I was sitting here on my computer at about 4:00am when the civic showed up, And I didnt hear anything at first but then they started talking. I went to my window and saw three kids around my car, and one of them clean kicked the side of my door. Leaving a pretty dent...

Well, I grabbed my camcorder and walked down stairs... I recorded them laughing, kicking in other doors, and keying my car. And I recorded their liscence plate and faces.

Called up the police and a half hour later they were caught arrested and needless to say every penny was paied for.

Dont fight back. It isn't gonna get your car fixed, its gonna get you charged with assault. I have a nice veiw of where I park my car and a camcorder. So I am comfortable and ready for pretty much anything.

Are u in concord, CA or NH? I used to live in concord ca and I know exactly the type of suburban jokes you are describing. Problem in concord is both parents work and kids have too much time on their hands. Very high juvenile crime rate there.

I live in Minnesota (if your asking me)
Yeah parents around here pour cash into kids wallets. It frustraights the hell out of me. They ruin the entire scene. The concept of tuning to me is that you take a car that isnt nessicaraly fast, and you instal and do all the work YOURSELF to make it fast. The kids are getting all this cosmetic **** and anything that isnt cosmetic is installed by tires plus. Its all apc trash so for the most part these kids wouldn't make it to the finish line during a race anyways.
I do not speed much at all, and I never race street. The only times I go all out is on roads up at my cabin which never get used, and are blocked off by my freinds.
I think the reason you have so much vandalism against imports is because the way the next generation if import tuners handel the scene. If we don't even respect each other this whole concept of tuning is gonna go down the hole. I have been wasted by cars time and again, but I sure as hell never took up arms about it. If anything it makes me want to work harder at working on my car. I dont know, It just shocked me that people would do this kind of stuff to such nice rides. Or just rides in general.

Order it without the wing and get rid of the Altezza tailights and you'll probably have fewer problems. The wing just draws way too much attention. Frankly, when tuner cars started coming out I thought they were gay guys driving them. They were so flamboyant I thought they were coming out of the closet or something.
