EVO handling strange

I have just recently bought my evo is has about 2500 miles on it. I'm not sure if this is an evo thing but it seems like the tires folow any imperfection in the road. Even if I take my hands of the well for a second all of a suddent the car immediatly starts going off to the right or left. Is this because of the sensitive steering? Is my alignment off or something or do I need to keep making constant adjustments to avoid immediatly to one side or another????

As some magazine put it, "Trying to drive the Evolution with one hand will require the use of two lanes." Maybe that will put into perspective how sensitive the steering is, and how touchy as well.

If you are still unsure, drop by a shop and have them peep it for you.

Mine does the same thing too. It will follow any indentations or curves in the road. I had my alignment checked 3 days ago and everything was within specs

I had the same problem. I have discovered a solution. Make your own curves and indentations in the road.

It's bumpsteer. Hit a bump, ripple, or otherwise an imperfection in the road surface, and the steering wheel follow.

Not much you can do it unless you want to heavily revise the steering.

To stop it you need a much steeper rake (caster). Because the suspension has a shallow rake, it turns quick. Loose the caster, loose the quick steering and it won't 'feel' light anymore.

Someone needs a Cadillac, some warm milk, and a kleenex.

Go get the alignment checked. Mine would follow ever little crease in the road and after the alignment was fixed it doesnt do that anymore. Check your front tires and make sure they are not wearing only on the inside like mine were. I was only riding on a third of my front tires. Now they are replacing all four!!!! For FREE

That is a issue with the stock tires. I put the toyo proxis t-1s and it is a lot less.

With the factory alignment the front inside edges wear faster than the outside. Playing with the inflation pressures (4 lbs is a bunch, I only adjust mine 2) will change things quite a bit and its easy to do and undo. I am ready for new tires but very much on the fence as to which way to go (looking hard at the new pilots). I am in love with the quick turn in characteristics on this car but am going to tune out some understeer with a bit more rear bar.

this is how the evo is but sometimes the alignment from the factory can be way off... get an alignment done, maybe you have too much toe out
