What the heck is this

I have 500+ miles on my Evo and am breaking it in properly. A few days ago after it had sat a couple of days, I started it and after I engaged the clutch I noticed it hesitated and almost felt like I had the emergency brake on before it realeased and moved normally. yesterday, again after sitting a couple of days, I started it and this time is was even more noticably, after i engaged the clutch, it did nothing and then made a slight sqeeking sound and suddenly broke free and moved normally. It has never done this when it is warmed up. Anyone else experience this?

thanks

Did you wash your wheels just prior? Sometimes the brake pads "stick" after the rotors get a slight rusty coating after getting wet and sitting, then when you drive off, it will feel like it breaks loose for a second and then everything is normal once you clean off the rotors by braking once you are rolling.

Yes, I did wash it both times. Sounds like that is what happened. Thanks

Also, after this happens the brakes will tend to make a lot of thumping noises until the rust is removed. Takes a few miles...

Yep, it was just your rotors rusting up, nothing to worry about :-)

Ya I washed my evo then parked it in a garage and set the hand brake, tried to move it after a month, it wouldnt budge, ended up pulling it backwards with my Jeep to free the brakes. Heck, even before I get the car dried off the rotors have rust on them.
