I've had two evo's the first one was red and it does not have clear coat on it. It was just as much of a pain in the **** to keep clean as the black one is now. The black on the Evo has some sort of metalic in it that in certain light makes look different, it's got a little of a purple or blue haze to it usually when it is twilight. I think the color looks really good on the car. Quality wise it's pretty average, it has a little orange peel to it but that seems to be par for the course. The paint that really sucks is what ever they paint the wipers and the air evacuator in the hood with. That crap fades horribly. Flat black Krylon from a rattle can holds up about as well.

I doubt someone vandalized my paint. I can only see the scratches when I look at my paint at a certain angle. It would be alot deeper if it were keyed.

All EVO's have the orange peel effect in the paint. As soon as I can afford a top notch paint job, you can bet I'm going to get some new paint. Color me disappointed about the orange peel effect.

Peace

The paint quality is the worst that I've ever owned. If I had to do it again I would have gone with white or silver.

Red has no clear on the Evo, just some info for you guys....

The orange peal you speak of on the Evo is a result of the technique Mitsu uses to paint their cars. If you notice, its a very uniform orange peal, which is odd.....
