Black EVO paint quality

Those with Black EVO's how do you feel about your choice? I have a red now and may be going to a new car and am considering a different color. Black looks nice with some gold wheels etc. but if the paint quaility is not that great it may not be a good idea...

Yea, I'm not too keen on the paint quality....it looks great from far away though I just love the look of black cars.

I have 2 black cars. If you don't mind spending a lot of time on it or don't care what it looks like most of the time, black cleans up real nice. My first black car was in Southern California and I hand washed it twice a week, waxed it every week and polished it once a month. It looked good all the time because I was young.
The second black car I had was in Tacoma, Washington and I rotated the mud weekly and polished/waxed it every other month.

Black is the way to go, but the paint is kind of thin on all of them (all colors)...........

no complaints outside the normal "black car gripes". car is only a little over one month old though, so we will see. imo black looks the best

I have no complaints. The paint is 10 times better than the paint on my WRX.

I got red. My paint is poo. I've had it 2 months, already polished and waxed it, detail it every week and somehow my clearcoat is scratching. This doesn't happen to any other cars that i detail. {thumbsdwn}

you sure someone isn't purposely scratching? There was another post with a guy who had his Evo vandalized twice. Not to say the paint is good... it sucks. I've driven on the highway quite a bit, and there's lots of white spots in my yellow. I'm sure all the colors do the same thing. Is it cuz the base coat sux or the clear?

I also have a black Evo. The paint is really thin like the rest of the paint colors, but imperfections are harder to notice then a white Evo

Just wash it and wax it regularly and you'll be pretty happy. If you want a low maitenence paint color for you Evo get a silver one.

You have to work harder to keep it clean, but it's definitely more rewarding IMO. It all depends on if you want to wash your car every other week or so. Black cars look beautiful, especially when it's overcast out. It literally makes the car glow.
