yeah the evo is an amazing car... its always unfortunate the masses are satisfied but are silent... then few who got lemons cry and stomp around...

i mean i feel for anyone who has a car problem and its not their fault but evo is a great car, mitsu did a good job with this.

I've had my Evo for 1 year and 5 months, 18k miles and it's pretty well upgraded. Just replaced the Advans, which should have lasted only 10k miles. Stock clutch, still pulling great with no hint of a slip. There are always a few bad apples in the bunch though. It's expected.

My Evo has 7k and I have friends who have over 30k ...NO PROBLEMS. Keep in mind the Evo is a venerable platform phenominal engine. The car is a culmination of over a decade of lessons learned. Remember DSM's were only in America not Japan or Europe. It was built in America sharing components from early 90's Chrsylers... It was a recipe for disaster, still the engines held up cus thier JDM. Remember Evos are built in Japan even though Mitsu got crazy problems with reliabilty and build quality the Evo is the best put together car they make bar none. It will Last! that's one of the reasons why the car built a cult following since 92 long before the Grand Turismo generation knew what it was. Ahh those were the days eh Maiken?

i owned 5 dsm's and 1 evo. not even remotely close in build quality. you have so many people post "my (enter part here) broke, i hate this car".........but how many people get on here & say "hey guys, i had no problems again this month"

it's like a customer service job, not all the customer's are jerks just the ones that call in & yell.

Yeah that's what I am trying to gague, not what problems there are, but if a majority of people have no problems at all.....I am considering an EVO, but I want to see what the opinion of the higher mileage guys is, as the warranty will cover anything that goes on during the shakedown miles (hopefully)....

Just get the Damn EVO Trust me Most guys who have an Evo I'd say 90% of them love it...and had no problems. Dude for the last time it's not a crappy-put-together-AmeroJapanese-Crap-Bucket-DSM!!!! Get the Evo...Before I bought mine I was considering an STi but after talking to Sti guys and all the problems that they are having with that 2.5L, I bought the Evo and I'm completely satisfied. As Long as you maintain it, it will do you no harm. Guys in Japan and Europe have had no major mechanical problems with the Evo 7 essentially the same car. So don't sweat it.

some people went from quiet car to evo. I went from loud car to evo, to me the evo drivetrain noises are the sweet sounds of WRC homologation.

Car makes noise when you let off the accelerator - kind of like its not coasting smoothly, but engages something - everyone has it. On a previous thread it was kinda concluded that STI and other AWD tend to have this, though one guy said his old Celica Alltrac did not? I'm not worried about it - not an annoying sound or anything - just makes you go Hmmm? if you're not familiar with it.

Got almost 8,000 miles and 8 months under my belt - Advans are about 60% worn, but no complaints. Smell clutch when I feather it aggressively, but still holds well (just put SS lines and removed restrictor pill to help)

My 3000GT VR4 doesn't have this problem but this clutch problem is also on the 2000 - 2001 S2000s which is not AWD. They have a recall for this I believe for the Honda S2000s. It is said that they had weak flywheel (?) or Weak something about a plate.

Go to www.sk2i.com for research.

I love the car and am very impressed. Not worried about long term quality at all if not for everyone who has had problems on this forum. Love it.

FWIW: A family friend who owns a BMW and has had econoboxes in the past wanted a ride in my car. He expected it to feel like the econoboxes he used to drive (subi impreza btw) but was totally impressed with how solid the car is.
