Post california smog legal??

hey guys,
i was just wondering how many smog legal parts there are that actually make power. i know the s-afc is illegal in cali. i am in the police academy so i am kinda restricted on the modifications i can do. i plan on buying an evo when i get out of the academy. there should be a few more by then but i was just curious and wanted to get an idea of what to plan for. i'm only looking for a power output of 350-375 at the wheels.
thanks for the help.

I have a ton of mods and my car passed smog with no problem. Getting the ECU tuned or reflashed is critical since it will lean out the factory-rich condition. My car actually got cleaner (in PPM) at 2500 rpms vs. at idle. There are tons of threads here about how to make power in that range. Do a search or scan the threads in the Evo Engine section. Another option is to log on to www.socalevo.net and get more local opinions. Good luck!

Chris

Just cause your going to be a cop, dosent mean you have tell on yourself. Are you going to report your every mod? You wont get fired or anything. What are they going to do, take your lunch money?

its called ethical behavior. i am a strong believer in that. it has nothing to do with telling on myself or getting in trouble. if i am going to be a police officer i have to set an example as far as following the law goes. i know it sounds corny but i think they have me brain washed or something.

You have to be kidding. I know alot of officers, some are friends at that and none of them are perfectly ethical. Youre not going to get an extra brownie badge.

Due to ethics and morals, you should not mod your car, tint your windows, drive beyond the speed limit and never accept free coffee from your local AM PM mini mart. Get out of the academy and off probation before you start doing anything to your car. Also, find out what your what your department allows you to do as far as having tinted windows.

agreed, and yes i am over exaggerating a bit but for the most part it is the truth. tint is not a prob but i don't think i'll do that anyway. i am looking to build something i can take to the track on the weekend. not drag. some type of road racing maybe autocross or willow springs events it is less than 20 min. from where i live.

who said the S-AFC is illegal!!??, all it does is lean-out the A/F ratio reducing engine pollution while making more power. it's a win/win situation

apexi says so on all their ads. read the fine print. cali. is the only state it is prohibited in. specifically "not for use on a pollution controlled vehicle on any public highway" hence illegal in cali.
