Is this true?

Hey guys newbie here. I am wanting to get a EVO in a year or so. My friend has a Turbo SI. He just got his car dyno tuned and I commented him on his BOV. His cousin owns a EVO which I brought to the subject. He said after his cousin put on his BOV, it vents into the atmosphere. But the car would die. Now is this true?

yes it is, the MAF thinks the air is returned back to the intake and back into the engine but since air is vented to atmosphere it causes a rich condition =>stalling the car

The evo is built for the BOV to do better with it recirculating, but i do think there are people that have it set up to VTA

if you go standalone, VTA wouldn't be a problem

standalone engine management like ems or xede (almost standalone but piggyback)

couldn't you install BOV and reflash to have it work? I thought that's what everyone was doing?
