I agree, I believe the document is legit. Can't wait for some solid info though.

Regardless of whether this deal is fake or not, I still want one. It's still going to be AWD and Turbocharged. It's still going to be a completely f-in sweet car to drive. It's still going to whoop on Civics, Sunfires, Neons, Cavalears, etc...like a train passin' a tramp. It's still going to be a true blue sport compact vs. Turd Furgason's home-made fart-piped shat-box. If not exactly what we wanted, at least it'll be close. We can always change what we don't like. So, anxiety aside, I'm just gonna sit back and chill until we get word strait from the mouth of Mitsu.

brrrrooooogaaaaaa!!!!!

Out of curiousity, what do you (and some others) have against Enkei wheels? I suppose if you want to go for the bling bling 18s, Enkeis wouldn't fit the bill, but as far as real performance issues go, Enkei makes some pretty damn good wheels. The deciding factor should be on how much the OEM rims weigh, not the brand on them. Also, Recaro's top of the line racing seats *might* cost $1000 apiece, but the ones that you'll see in the Evo are more like $300-600 each. Don't cream your shorts over them. And last, why on earth would you put 10" wide rims on an Evo? Wait, now that I've reread your post a couple more times, I'm starting to wonder why you don't just buy a Lancer and rice the hell out of it.

Recaro seats are a cool grand each... 200-800bones for an LSD, things look groovy to me. The rims will be the first to go, either Volks, Advans, Work, Veilside rims are gonna replace them. 18X8s in front 18x10s in back baby yah!

I agree, Enkei wheels would be pretty nice. P.S. to the Turd Ferguson guy...mentioning cavaliers, civics, and neons is not fair to either the EVO or the aforementioned cars, this thing will be housing Mustangs, Camaro's, Vettes, Trans-Am's and a whole lot more than most 4 cylinders. Get me an Evo and that "Gone 8-Cylinder hunting" sticker a.s.a.p.

Best use for a sunroof is for smoking

i think the doc is legit.

Cost will probably determine the rim choice for mitsu, but volk, advan, work, and andrew racing (veilside) are all top of the line japanese rims as westsidebilly has mentioned. Personally i'd love to see some magnesium forged rims on my evo.

What's wrong with Enkei wheels?
They use Enkei and OZ wheels on the rally cars and not Volk, veilside or whatever

You're a big SNOB, jspecn1!!

Or maybe you are just an idiot

Hey RA29,

I agree with you that enkei's are very nice rims(expecially on a rallycar). However don't flame anyone for thier opinion cause there's usualy a reason. Besides that, no one deserves to get flamed for posting thier opinion online, especially in a rumor thread.

Well, I will be honest ... I opted for the power sunroof on my Saturn SC2 (1997). It broke 3 times. The first 2 times it was covered under warranty, the 3rd time, I'm leaving it broken, they want $800 for it. The rails that the roof rides on cracks, then I have to take it to the dealer so they can take it apart just to get it closed again, so I can't open it anymore. I want to just buy the rails, but I can't, I have to buy the entire sunroof kit. Screw it, I've got 151,000 miles, I don't care about it anymore. My Saturn SC2 is the worst car I've ever owned - it's still running, but 2 auto trans rebuilds, 1 engine rebuild, and TONS of other things. It was a lemon from the start, had to be towed in the first month I owned it due to "defective" parts.

I've seen a couple rollovers....one of them being a 2000 Celica GT-S....it had a sunroof. This was no light rollover, it was on a track at a competition. The driver came out of the car without a scratch on him.

The sunroof adds weight to the car, but then again, weight can depend upon who's driving the car. The difference is minimal.

Nothin but love for ya Mike, but my Evo isn't going to be strictly track, it's gonna be my daily driver as well, so I want to feel at home.

Those are the Enkei WTE's. (WRC Tarmac EVO) I will be trying to get those if I get the car in white. Haven't been able to find a reseller of those) Seems like Enkei North America sells only to the lowrider crowd.

Exclamation

Let's assume that fax is real. No AYC/ACD but just limited slip differential while with the option of sunroof... don't you guys see what Mitsubishi USA is thinking?? They simply don't have enough technicans and machines to satisfy the warranty claim in their possible future! The AYC/ACD thing is still new within years technology. It is considered to be big risks to the corporation when these things aren't reliable and customers started to bring their cars back to the dealerships for warranty checkup/service, they will lose $$.
As of the sunroof... don't forget why they are trying to sell the EVOs here.... just to provide an affordable sports sedan to compete the European sport sedans. So for what they believe by selling us a mass amount of Evo 8 (but back to the III/IV tech) 'd satisfy us sufficiently.
Sunroof is an upscale item for those customers who 'd think the sunroof as a standard sports sedan 's item while they don't really take their cars to Rally... you know what I meant... just the pleasure of owning a sports sedan while not necessary to really squeeze every ounces of its offering performance.... you know there are many consumers out there just like that...
Anyway Mitusbishi knows that you guys will not complain any longer as long as the 4G63 turbo, AWD shows up regardless how ugly the
car will look like...

humm......paithian I would be very interested to hear who gave that to you.......i would vouch for it's validity-or not..

Interestingly enough the order codes look like the real thing...but thats well enough known as well.

It certainly looks like something created inside corporate hq.......but the evo 7 is definately pasted in there........humm

A-what?

The terminology used for the packages i.e. A61 etc. makes it look kinda real, but it isn't laid out like the typical build/cost sheets for the models we have. However, if it is some sort of preproduction hype sheet, it isn't like one I've ever seen either.

In searching for the model codes (A00, A61) I came across this post dated 10/02/02 which was dead on!!!

It is amazing how the internet has the answers 3 months before the dealers.

At my dealer, we recieved this fax months ago. I was the only salesperson to see it, as it was directed to the general manager (owner). He knows that I am obsessed with the car and allowed me to read through and soak it all in. It is totally legitimate. It is really about 30 pages long and it goes into detail about the competitive vehicles in the U.S. and in Europe and Japan.

As far as the wheels: If you own an O.Z. Rally, take the wheels off and you will see on the back there is a stamping that indicates Enkei as the manufacturer. This has been a long-standing partnership with Enkei and Mitsu. The old Galant VR-4's had them, the early-generation 3000GT's and Eclipse Turbo's had them. Back then they did not advertise Enkei as the brand, because people were not as familiar with the name. Nowadays, everyone knows the name because of the growing popularity of the WRC and the sheer number of compact cars with Enkei's on them....
