I had a shop install my cat back exhaust b/c I did not have access to a lift and I figured they could do the MBC at the same time. Here is the problem, I recently peeked under the car to take a look at the install about a week later. I noticed the plastic covering for the O2 sensor is split at the connection(nearest the mid pipe). Will this cause a problem? Should I put tape over it? If so,what type...it gets really hot over there.

You would be fine by just slapping some electrical tape on it. The wires are coated to withstand the heat so you should be fine.
