Here is the info i received from mitsu....(more gasoline for the fire)

called the 1888mitsu2002 number and this is what the guy told me.......the car is scheduled to be released on january 1, 2003. No specs were offered on the car.

next i called multiple dealerships in the Bay area and they all told me the same thing......that the EVO would be released around 2-3 months after the outlander......several mitsubishi dealerships have their outlanders as of today, so that could mean that the EVO is going to be released sooner than end of Jan/Feb as other posts have said, then again, why would i believe dealerships? just thought i'd add this into the fire.

that isn't much of an option in Minnesota... I just hope the tires the Evo starts with are like the crap that Subaru shipped with the WRX. Those tires are bad on dry ground, worse in the rain, and really bad in the snow.

I am not sure why you said that you hope they are going to be like the crap the WRX shipped with. I am pretty sure you are refering to the same Bridgestone Potenza RE92's that came on my nissan maxima as stock, my friends 2k2 maxima as stock, and my other friends WRX as stock. These are probly some of the worst tires ive ever seen. They are v-rated which means not quite sticky enough to be Z yet such a poor treadlife that they call them V-rated. They only lasted me 11k miles, my friend with the other maxima 15k, and my friends wrx had about 15k when they lost traction and caused his car to go off into a tree (totaled). The few times we off roaded his WRX, the tires were not that great either. When I went to a bridgestone/firestone dealer they quoted me 175 dollars per tire to replace them.

OEM's must get a great deal on these cause they're the only ones to ever use them.

Definatly some of the "worst tires ever"

The Evos come with high performance summer tires and so if you dont change the tires and take it on the snow, 4wd or not, it's going to slam into a tree or similar

Tires are probably the most important component for a car's performance

Well put RA29, I doubt that the evo will come with the same yokohomos that come on it in japan since I am 99% sure those are japanese tires and I've never seen them for sale here at all. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone have some specs on the tires?? I'd be interested to see what the treadware and wet braking traction ratings are.

Yeah I will have specs on the tires when I pick up my car, since they are running the Yokos (Advan A046).

For now, a closeup pic of my tire will do

yeah - I meant to say I hoped they wouldn't be the **** they put on the WRXs..... those tires are really, really bad.

on a sorta related note, anyone know the offset of the Evo7 wheels? - I am assuming the Evo8 will probably be the same....

I drive my Eagle Talon AWD in the snow (here in Michigan) and it handles great! Thats one of the main reasons I'm considering an EVO is for the AWD to handle the snow. $30,000 really isn't that much money. Compare to a $40,000 Audi S4. I almost bought one of those but decided to hold off until I got more info on the EVO (which I believe will be faster and have a better fit inside.)

My dealer (for what it's worth) has told me to expect the car in December or January.

if you can afford the new S4 you might want to look at that. the 250 hp 2.7TT is being replaced with a 325ish hp 4.2 V8 out of the A6 & A8. should be a sweet GT car.

I heard this too. I also heard thats it's still a year a way and coming with a $50,000 price tag. That prices it out of my range.
I had heard rumors of a boost in hp in the TT as well as 300 hp AWD SVT Focus. But they are just rumors.

Currently my cars of choice would be the EVO, the VW W8, the Sti, and the G35 coupe. I'm patient enough to wait for the Evo to come out but not much longer

for the record, if you drive past your tires' limits, it's your fault, not the tires' fault.

for the record - i was just answering the person who said "it'll have a snow button, and us buyers would like that". i'm not saying it's going to be a bad car in the snow (duh), just that i'm not sure people will be buying a killer performance car just because it's good in snow
