I just got off the phone with the manager of media relations....
well, first of all I dont expect anyone to beleive me because I am new to this site. BUt anyhow..... I got a chance to get through with media relations manager of Mitsubishi. First of all I can say that Im noone special and with no secret contacts, so all these guys that posted about a secret contact are just trying to make themselves more important than they really are.
anyway, this guy came across as a very nice man, giving me info about the EVO without me even asking too much. He raced with formula cars and that's were we went on since I've had track time at local roadcourses. He described the car as a street legal roadcourse car. He spoke about how you will never need to steer the car with a hand on top of the steering wheel-- too quick a ratio. He said he launched the car at 2500rpm's and got a hit of nothing but forward grip-he compared it to an earlier eclipse with awd but with much more ferocity and quality feel in the car. He didnt talk about hp-or I should say that he didnt tell me an exact figure, so I said "300" he said"not quite that high, right around were all EVO's have been expected to produce". I said "so it should be right around 276", he said "thats more like it". He said how the engine is cut down in power in order to pass emmission laws, but the power will be there ready to be unleashed.
He told me that its a racers automobile, so I mentioned that I previously owned an Integra type-R and how I felt that it belonged on the track. He said "exactly". He said that all that is not necessary for track use or going fast is not included in this car, much like my type-R. He also guaranteed brembo brakes and recaro seats. No luck with the AYD or ACD . HE said that this car can only be compared to cars that cost 50 and 60 thousand dollars.
All in all he makes me salivate with the thought of this car. He said that January is the month of arrivals, and that not all dealers will receive them.
Now I know very well that all of these facts have been talked about before but personally I feel better now that I heard it from the horses mouth. I will be waiting!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I worked for Mitsubishi customer relations. I'd create more rumors on the forums than ODB has kids (whether he claims them or not).
As with any other rumor...until it's official it's still a rumor. As much as people do or don't want to believe them there's no confirmation. Anyway, it's one of the more believable ones. Welcome to the forums.

great post
I hope you are right about the brembos & recaros, not having to replace those two items would be great. AYC & ACD would be cool, but I don't know if I like the idea of having to rely on untrained techs at the local Mitsubishi dealership in the event of a problem in a system like that. reliabilty is more important then absolute max performance imo... for a while anyway

Don't know why wouldn't they put acd/ayc. I'd bet we'll have both. They probably just doesnt' want subaru to know. I'm sure Mitsubishi know that they will need a 6-speed to stay even but ACD will pull them apart and i'm sure the snow button will attract U.S. buyers. I understand that most mechanics will have trouble to service AYC but ACD seems reasonable. I'll believe it when Mitsubishi gives the official words. Until then it's all rumors except over 250hp and brembos.
Although the info you got isn't as detailed as the info I recieved..it DOES match up with the info I posted in this thread:

265+hp(265-270), Brembo, Recaros, fmic, 5-speed. no ayc/acd, 4000 or so made, not all dealers will qualify.

hey Broeli, are the initials to the guy you spoke to "R.K" ?
One thing he strongly suggested was to find a good dealership and put a deposit on one. He was really exited about the car and he also said that every dealer by now already knows or will know very soon if they were to receive any EVO's. So I called up the dealer I made a deposit on and asked them if they know and they said yes and that they will receive a total of five of them (all spoken for).
I have experience with special and limited cars since I got my Integra type-R. Back in 1997 I had a deposit on one. Well when the car arrived I got screwed because the dealer gave me a price of $4000 over sticker and since I said no to that my car was was sold to someone else. Then in 1999 I got another opportunity to get a type-R. This time I had 2 deposits in 2 dealerships and made them both sign the receipt stating a sticker price. So thats how I got my R. NOw a month ago my type R was stolen and fully dismantled(sad) and that's why I made 2 deposits on the new and upcoming EVO. I can tell you that there is nothing like owning a limited production vehicle. The coundown begins!!

I know R K. They are getting ready to talk a little about it. Biggest priority for Mitsubishi is to keep SUBARU guessing. Believe it Subaru guys monitor stuff like this forum for info but I am happy to say that when I tell Mitsubishi some details I read here, they get bummed cause I knew something they didn't even want to tell me. HA, ha!!
