This is kinda related... I was wondering if anyone has heard any issues with CF hooks and this heat. Will they warp, discolor, or anything like that with this kinda heat coming from the turbo and engine? I know we have the vents and all, but just curious about the other areas of the hood, like right over the engine.

These cars retain heat like no other. We did some work under the hood on my car one day. I let it sit for 1 hour to cool down before we went to work and still most parts were to hot to touch.

Just curious, but for those that have temp gauges what are your temps?

My oil temp is now around 100 to 110 C now in the hot summer (15-50). Need to change down to 10-30

Air intake temps around 39 C driving and 49 C standing still

Water temps at 83 C unless I get on it...then around 90 C

I don't know the rest, but running on 10W-40 in the summer heat, the oil temp is just a smidge below 90 c (194 f). I only see 100 c (212 f) when we're tracking the car. But running on the expressway at 70 mph in cooler temps, the oil temp is 75 c (167 f).

A quick and easy way to help cool the engine bay is to remove the louvres...just did it on mine, and it looks good too

just be aware it is also there to reduce the amount of rain going in AND where the rain will fall... people dont seem to understand that....

I've noticed that the wax I put on the hood lasts about 2 weeks vs 3 months elsewhere on the car. I have since switched to a synthetic that does much better.

It's not the rain that the paint can't handle, it's the micron particals that leave huge chips in it...

micron particles? do you mean stones?....I can worry about stone chips, but if it gets dirty, it won't be for long

Yeah, I just meant that the tiniest of stones leave rather large chips. Currently I have about 15 chips on the hood and bumper that are down to the primer. F'n Colorado roads, gotta love it!
