pics of my EVO VII
gvr4v,
Thank You! I would feel the same way as you. You would think wrc4ever worked for the stupid company (E.I.). I can't even BEGIN to understand why he defends them when they've had his money since March! Now would be about the time I demand my money back...or at the very very least they would have to take a good chunk of money off for all the months waiting. Just shows you can't trust E.I....makes me wonder if they are in SOME way fraudulant (perhaps the fact they can in fact make it completely street legal isn't true)..who knows..at the very least they are doing bad business. You have to ask yourself: Is having an Evo VII instead of waiting a few more months for the Evo VIII really worth the extra cost and hassle? Anyway..good luck.

you've posted that same thing in 5 different threads now. What's the deal?
Got a problem with that?

all i got to say is that your car looks really good. i wish i was driving what you were; however, i'm not. it's all good though. nice pics.
WRC4ever is right, nobody listens. The cars are still at G&K. They have been there since July, its now Oct. Waiting on paperwork from DOT. Thats BULL****. The cars are ready.
STILL PISSED!!!!!!!

What I am wondering is this though: once the DOT papers go through (I understand the EPA stuff is complete)... would it then be possible for anyone to buy an Evo7 from Global Performance and throw a cat on it and have it be legal, without going through EI? Because I assume the DOT approval is not exclusive. Maybe this is what the poster of this thread is waiting on too?
Seems interesting if so, because an E7 RS2 from Global Performance is right around 30k EURO (29k US) plus shipping, tax etc. Wonder how much could really be saved that way. Anyhow, that is all really not on topic for this post. Just pondering!
You have a wonderful car there, evo vii rsii.
PToast:
the legalization process is a lot more involved than you think. Though I don't know the details, I do know that it is more than just cat work, and besides, the car already comes with a cat.
You still need to wire in the OBDII stuff, add vapor nozzle to the fuel tank, and probably other bits and pieces. And you still most likely need stickers on the car that show it passed the legalization process. Only a handful of people in this country can do so.
So to answer you, no you cannot buy an evo through G.P. and have it legal yourself.

Yea, I was being rather offhand with the 'throw a cat on' comment. I was referring to something I heard Adam mention: that another cat may have to be installed on the downpipe (ouch) in order to pass emissions. I was really wondering whether or not E.I. had some kind of exclusive right to sell legalized Evo7s since they are really the only ones that can prove they can do it and pass gov't regulations.
You're right though, I didn't even consider that the OBDII requirement is peculiar to cars sold in the U.S.. I have to assume that making the Evo OBDII-compliant requires some specialty knowledge... and is rather more difficult than ripping an ECU from a 1g or 2g Eclipse and chucking it in in the vicinity of the Evo's engine bay.
Thanks for making that more clear.

What about the crash test standards they are supposed to meet? How are they getting around that? I know another importer spent big bucks making Skylines street legal because of the crash testing that needed done.
